US Military Playin' Coast Guard in the Hormuz Strait, Keepin' Big Oil in Business
Uncle Sam stay protectin' them oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, but what 'bout the folks back home?
Aight, so check it. Word on the street is, CENTCOM, that's US Central Command for you uninitiated, been hand-holdin' commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz. A whole 70 of 'em in the last three weeks, aight? Straight up from a US official. Real talk, that's a lotta babysitting for them big ol' tankers.
Now, for those who ain't up on the geography, the Strait of Hormuz is that little strip of water 'tween Oman and Iran. It's where all the oil be passin' through, you feel me? A major choke point. If somethin' goes down there, gas prices go sky high, and everybody hurtin', especially us.
And who's always causin' problems? Iran, allegedly. They always stirrin' the pot, makin' threats, maybe snatchin' a ship or two. So, Uncle Sam gotta flex that military muscle, make sure them oil tankers keep on truckin'. But at what cost, fam?
This ain't nothin' new, tho. Back in the day, during the Iran-Iraq War, they had Operation Earnest Will, re-flaggin' them Kuwaiti tankers as American just to keep 'em from gettin' blown to smithereens. Same game, different decade.
So, what this 'assistance' look like? Probably a bunch of Navy cats on patrol, big ships, flyin' drones, watchin' everything like hawks. All paid for with our tax dollars, mind you. Dollars that could be goin' to schools, hospitals, or fixin' them potholes on your block.
But nah, gotta keep them oil companies happy, gotta keep the gas flowin'. Meanwhile, folks strugglin' to pay their rent, can't afford groceries, and the planet cookin' 'cause of all that oil we burnin'. Something ain't right, man.
They tell us it's 'bout national security, protectin' the global economy. But whose economy, really? It ain't the economy for the regular folk, that's for sure. It's the economy for the corporations and the wealthy. The ones who benefit from all that oil.
So next time you at the gas pump, remember this. Remember that the US military is out there protectin' them oil tankers, and remember who really payin' the price.
