UNC Civics Program: Another Sellout or Nah?
They promised real talk, but some folks sayin' this program just pushin' the same old BS.
Aight, check it. So, this civics program at UNC, right? Supposed to be teachin' folks how the system work, gettin' everybody on the same page 'bout civic duty and all that. But some of the OG heads who backed it in the first place, the ones with the conservative views, they hollerin' foul. Sayin' it ain't keepin' it real no more, leanin' too far left.
Now, peep this: this program was meant to be a spot where everybody could kick it, share their opinions, no matter if they rockin' MAGA hats or wearin' Che Guevara tees. Conservative cats thought it was gon' be a W against all that liberal indoctrination they claimin' happenin' on campus.
But nah, according to these conservatives, the program done switched up. They say the speakers they bringin' in, the stuff they teachin', it's all got a liberal spin. They feelin' like their voices ain't bein' heard, like they gettin' iced out the conversation.
Now, some folks sayin' it's just how it is on college campuses, that liberal ideas always gonna be louder. But others think the program got a responsibility to make sure everybody get a fair chance to speak their piece. Keep it balanced, ya dig?
This whole situation show how hard it is to make a space where everybody feel welcome and respected. Gotta keep it transparent, gotta hold folks accountable, and gotta be real about the biases that be creepin' in.
This ain't just about some college program, though. This about who get to control the narrative, who get to decide what's right and wrong. And when folks feel like they ain't got a voice, that's when things get messy.
This program need to get back to the basics: listen to all sides, respect different opinions, and keep it real. Stop playin' politics and start servin' the community. 'Cause if they don't, it's just another example of the system failin' the people.
They gotta reach out to the community, too. Not just the students, but the folks in the neighborhoods, the ones who livin' it every day. Get their input, make sure their voices are heard. That's how you build trust, that's how you make a real difference.
At the end of the day, it's about power. Who got it, who don't. And if this program ain't empowerin' everybody, then it ain't doin' its job. It's just another tool of the system, keepin' folks down.
So, UNC, what it's gonna be? Are y'all gonna keep it real, or are y'all gonna keep playin' games? The community watchin'.
Don't let this program become another casualty of the culture war. Let's get back to the essence and show folks that this can actually make a difference, for real. And remember, keep it 100. No cap.
Real talk though, if they not gonna do right by the community, it’s time to build our own shit. We got the knowledge, we got the hustle. We just need the resources. So either this UNC program needs to step up, or step aside and make room for something better, something built by us, for us. No more sellouts, no more BS.
