Tufts Student Caught Up Gets Degree, 'Heads Back Home After Trump Mess
Sis who wrote 'bout Palestine gets her PhD after feds tried to kick her out, now she takin' her talents back to Turkey.

Aight, so check it. Remember Rümeysa Öztürk, that sister from Tufts? The one who got jammed up 'cause she spoke out for Palestine? Well, she done finished her PhD and she's headed back to Turkey. Real talk, this whole situation was messed up from the jump.
This sista wrote an op-ed calling out the situation in Palestine. Next thing you know, ICE is tryna deport her. Like, what kinda sense that make? They came after her hard. But she didn't back down, tho. I gotta respect that.
The feds be tryna silence folks who speak truth to power, especially when it comes to Palestine. They label you anti-Semitic, a terrorist supporter, anything to shut you down. It's the same old game, different day. This is because they don't like being called out on the bs. Some people cannot handle constructive criticism. Not gonna lie, I am one of those people, but I am trying to get better about it.
“After 13 years of dedicated study, I am very proud to have completed my PhD and to return home on my own timeline,” Öztürk said in a statement. “The time stolen from me by the US government belongs not just to me, but to the children and youth I have dedicated my life to advocating for.” You hear that? She's not lettin' them win. She taking that degree and her knowledge and she's gonna use it back home. You know, I love to see this. I do not like seeing our people being held down and shut down. It is not a good look, for anyone. So it is nice to see that she did not give up. Also, can you imagine the amount of pressure that she must have been under? It is nice to see that it all paid off for her. Congrats to her.
This whole situation shows how they treatin' foreign students, especially if they black or brown and speakin' out on political issues. They'll revoke your visa, throw you in detention, anything to make an example. It's straight up intimidation.
Marco Rubio, that dude was Secretary of State, right? He was the one pullin' strings, tryna get her outta here. They use any excuse to target folks they don't like. That's why we gotta stay woke and keep fightin' for what's right. He just wanted to be able to say that he was the one that did it, and it is not cool. Do better.
Jessie Rossman from the ACLU was speaking facts when she said, “Dr Öztürk is an academic and scholar. The government’s unlawful actions against her forced her into the spotlight.” They tried to make her an example, but she came out stronger. Now, what about this? They can say what they want, but they have no evidence.
