They Gon' Always Look Out For Their Own: Study Shows Investors Rockin' Wit Rich Kid CEOs
Turns out, who your folks knew still matter more than what you can actually do outchea.

Aight, lemme break it down for y'all real quick. This study from University of Surrey just proved what we already knew: the game is rigged. They found out that investors see CEOs who went to private schools as a 'safer bet,' even if they ain't runnin' the company no better than somebody from public school. Straight up, they lookin' out for their own. That privilege card still gets played, and it's messin' up the whole damn economy.
This ain't 'bout merit, it's 'bout who got that generational wealth and connections. The study, published in European Financial Management, showed that companies with private school CEOs got less drama in the stock market, like 5% less. But the thing is, these CEOs ain't performin' any better, takin' bigger risks, or solving crises better than anyone else. It's all perception, man. Investors just think they know what's up 'cause they see that fancy school on the resume.
Dr. Christos Mavrovitis from the University of Surrey said it's 'bout perception. No duh. It's always been 'bout who looks the part, not who is the part. This whole system rewards the elite and keeps everybody else strugglin'. That ain't right.
The study did say that the longer these cats are in charge, the less investors care about their school. So, if they don't perform, that privilege ain't gonna save 'em. But that head start they got? It's real.
And check this: the Sutton Trust dropped some knowledge last year sayin' that private school kids still runnin' things in business and the media, even though they only a small slice of the whole population. So, the same cats stay on top, while we out here fightin' for scraps.
This is why we gotta build our own table. We gotta support Black-owned businesses, invest in our communities, and stop relyin' on these institutions that never had our backs in the first place. We gotta uplift our own 'cause ain't nobody else gonna do it for us. Straight up.
It's time to flip the script. Start our own hedge funds, own our own media companies, and make sure our kids got the resources they need to compete. This ain't just 'bout money, it's 'bout power. It's 'bout changin' the game so it's fair for everybody, not just the folks who been rockin' that privilege their whole lives.
They gon' always look out for their own. We gotta look out for ours too. No cap. It's us or nobody.
