Texas Tryna Play Fed: New Law Got Immigrants Sweatin'
Texas tryna make their own immigration laws, but is this move gonna bring more problems than solutions for the community?

Aight, so peep this: Texas done went and made a law, S.B. 4, that lets their police arrest folks they think crossed the border illegally. On the one hand, folks is saying it's 'bout security and protectin' the state. On the other, everybody know this just gonna lead to more profiling and harassment, especially for our Latino brothers and sisters.
The ACLU and other civil rights groups filed a lawsuit, sayin' Texas ain't got the right to do federal government bidness. They saying immigration is Uncle Sam's job, not some state's. But Texas Republicans, they pushin' back, saying they gotta protect theyselves 'cause the feds ain't doin' enough.
This S.B. 4 law basically makin' it a crime to enter the country illegally in Texas and givin' state judges the power to tell folks to bounce. That's wild, right? Like Texas think they a whole nation on they own. And Kate Gibson Kumar from the Texas Civil Rights Project, she ain't havin' it. She sayin' this law ain't nothin' but trouble for communities across Texas. Real talk.
And Cody Wofsy from the ACLU, he straight up callin' this law 'cruel and illegal.' He sayin' they gonna fight it till it's gone. But what about the folks caught in the middle? The mamas and papas just tryna feed they families? This law gonna mess they lives up even more. Fact.
They trippin' off these four things especially: makin' it a crime to come back even if you got papers later, letin' state judges order deportations, makin' it a crime to not listen to the judge's orders, and keepin' cases goin' even if you got a federal immigration case. That's a whole lotta layers of mess.
Adriana Piñon from the ACLU of Texas, she sayin' this gonna turn regular cops into immigration agents. And that's when the problems REALLY start. We seen how them cops treat folks already. Now give 'em more power to harass and detain people? Nah, fam. This ain't the way.
At the end of the day, this lawsuit is 'bout power and who gets to control the border. But it's also 'bout real people's lives. People who just tryna live and work and be free. Texas gotta chill and let the feds do they job. Or better yet, let's get some real immigration reform that ain't based on hate and fear. Keep it 100.
