Smithsonian Trippin': Is They Erasing Our History, Fam?
Word on the street is the Smithsonian changin' up the descriptions on the art, and folks sayin' it's self-censorship. What they hidin'?
Aight, listen up. The Smithsonian, that bougie museum spot in DC, done got caught playin' funny games. They been messin' with the words next to the art, the stuff that tells you what it's about. And people callin' it self-censorship. Straight up, that sound suspect.
Now, we all know how these institutions do. They love to whitewash history, act like slavery wasn't that bad, or pretend like Black folks ain't build this whole country. So, when I hear they messin' with the words, my antennas go up.
Is they tryin' to erase the struggle? Is they tryna make it seem like everything was all good back in the day? Cause if so, they can miss me with that BS. We ain't forgettin' nothin'.
This ain't just about some fancy art. This is about our story, our history. And they ain't got no right to change it or hide it. We gotta stay woke and pay attention to what these folks are doin'.
They probably got some excuse, like "it's more accurate" or "it's more inclusive." But we know what that really means. It means they tryna make white folks feel better about the messed-up stuff they did.
Nah, we need the real history. The raw history. The history that tells the truth about slavery, Jim Crow, and all the other ways they tried to keep us down. We can't let them erase that. We gotta teach our kids the truth, so they know where they come from and what they gotta fight for.
So, next time you at the Smithsonian, check out the art and read the descriptions. See if they sound right. See if they tellin' the whole story. And if they ain't, speak up. Let 'em know we ain't havin' it.
Real talk, if they messin' with the Smithsonian, you know they messin' with other stuff too. We gotta stay vigilant and fight for our history, our culture, and our future. Keep it 100, fam. No cap.
