Aight, so check it. Word on the street is Rob Base, that dude from Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock, done passed away at 59. Cancer got him, man. That's messed up. Real talk, "It Takes Two" was a straight-up anthem. That jawn was the party starter back in the day. Straight outta Harlem, makin' noise.
Rob Base, real name Robert Ginyard, and DJ E-Z Rock, Rodney Bryce, they was just two cats from the hood makin' music. They met in elementary school, fifth grade, inspired by the Crash Crew. That's what's up, local legends inspiring the next generation. But now both of 'em gone. E-Z Rock died back in 2014 from diabetes. This is why we gotta take care of our health, y'all.
Signed with Profile Records in '87. That label was puttin' on for hip-hop when nobody else was. They gave these cats a chance, and they blew up. "It Takes Two" hit the Billboard Hot 100. That track went platinum, man. Platinum! Still gets played at parties and clubs. It's a classic. Snoop Dogg, Black Eyed Peas, everybody been sampling that joint. It's timeless.
