Louisiana Senate Tryna Play Us: They Cut One of Our Black Districts!
Real talk, Louisiana Senate just passed some BS that's gonna make it harder for Black folks to get heard in Congress.

Aight, listen up y'all. The Louisiana Senate just pulled a fast one. They voted to get rid of one of the two districts where Black folks got the majority, you feel me? This Senate Bill 121 is straight-up disrespectful, and it's gonna mess with our representation in Congress. Straight up, they tryna silence us.
They sayin' it's just 'redistricting,' but we know what it really is. They takin' away our power. This new map gon' change District 6, where Cleo Fields at, and make it harder for a Democrat to win. They gon' center that district around white folks in the suburbs. Meanwhile, they keepin' District 2, with Troy Carter, Black-majority, but that's just to shut us up. Like, 'Look, we still got one!' Nah, we see through that.
This all started 'cause the Supreme Court messed with the Voting Rights Act. Now these states, especially down South, think they can just redraw the lines however they want and nobody gon' say nothin'. Louisiana's Governor, Jeff Landry, even stopped the House primary elections when 45,000 absentee ballots was already cast. Like, that's some bold-faced oppression right there.
During the Senate debate, State Senator Jay Morris tried to act like this was all good. But State Senator Sidney Barthelemy II called 'em out, sayin' they usin' race as a factor 'cause the Republican party is mostly white. Straight facts. State Senator Royce Duplessis said what we all feelin': we ain't just gonna take this.
But the thing is, the Republicans got the supermajority in the House and Senate, so it's hard for us to stop 'em. But we can't just sit back and let this happen. We gotta organize, we gotta vote, and we gotta let 'em know we ain't goin' nowhere.
This ain't nothin' new, though. They been tryna suppress our vote since forever. From Jim Crow to these new voter ID laws, it's the same game, different day. But we gotta stay strong, keep our heads up, and fight for what's right. Black lives matter, and our voices matter too.
They think they slick, but we see 'em. They can redraw the lines, but they can't erase us. We gon' keep fightin' for our seat at the table, even if they try to kick us off. This ain't over. Period.
