Fo' Real? Oldham Ex-Leader Sayin' 'Identity Politics' Messin' Up Da Hood
Arooj Shah droppin' truth bombs 'bout how division and online BS tearin' communities apart, straight up.

Aight, listen up. Former Oldham council leader Arooj Shah done dipped, right? But before she bounced, she was spittin' facts 'bout how identity politics be straight-up wreckin' communities. She said the whole vote split up after the election, ain't nobody in control, and that mess could spread like wildfire. Oldham, that's 250,000 folks chillin' there, stuck in a political gridlock. Nobody can agree on who leadin' or how to work together. Real talk, that's a problem.
Shah said both the far-right and far-left ain't good for nobody. They be stirrin' up mad rage in folks, and that's dangerous. She pointin' back to them riots in '01 in Oldham, Burnley, and Bradford. But ever since then, they had some programs to keep the peace on the streets. But now, she sayin' all that social media cap – especially 'bout them grooming gangs – done poisoned the whole damn town hall. And even tho' they did a review and ain't find no cover-up, that BS still fueled racist and sexist hate towards her.
Shah sayin' all that hate comin' at her 'cause she a Muslim woman from a struggle background. She been gettin' straight-up death threats, had her car torched, and gotta roll with Home Office security just to hit the market. That's wild, man. She said she can't even go shoppin' without security. She can’t go to the new market. That just shows you how much hate can mess things up for one person, and how it impacts the whole community.
Oldham tryin' to do better, tho'. They got this £450 million plan to fix up the town, and Eton College wanna open a school there too. Shah sayin' economic justice and the community gotta be together. She sayin' the real issue be class. Last year, Oldham got named “most improved council” at the Local Government Chronicle Awards, and Shah was named “leader of the year.” Things was looking up, but now, Labour down to 18 council members, Reform got 16, and the Oldham Group got 10. Shah said Reform and the Oldham Group be usin' migration and Gaza to get votes. She said they be tellin' white working-class folks they been left behind.
Shah is talking about some real stuff and making sure that people are aware of how things can be and should be for the betterment of the community. If people don't be paying attention to this then they gone miss out on something real and find themselves stuck in the middle of some bs later on down the line. This the type of thing that needs to get handled fr fr.
