Dying Son, Locked Up Folks: System Ain't Never Been Fair
This young bro tryna see his parents before he checks out, but ICE got 'em locked down at the border – same old story, different day.

CHICAGO – Check it, fam. This ain't no fairytale. Young blood, Kevin Gonzalez, only 18, got that Stage 4 colon cancer tearin' him up. All he wants is to see his mama and pops one last time. Real talk, who wouldn't? But the problem is, his folks locked up by ICE down in Arizona. They tried to cross the border to be with their son, and now they in the system. This mess is deep, man.
His parents, they from Mexico, been deported before. They ain't tryna break no laws just to do it, but when yo' kid dyin', you gonna do what you gotta do. This ain't about politics, this about family. This system be playin' games with people's lives, and it ain't right. They call it "justice", but where the justice at when a young man can't even see his parents before he gone?
They sayin' the parents broke the law, crossed the border illegally. Aight, bet. But what about the human side of this? What about compassion? What about lettin' a man say goodbye to his mama and pops? This country always talkin' 'bout family values, but where them values when it comes to folks like us? They quick to lock us up and deport us, but slow to show love and mercy.
We gotta call out this BS. We gotta demand better for our people. This ain't just about one family, this about all of us. How many families get torn apart by this system? How many kids grow up without their parents 'cause ICE snatch 'em up? It's a cycle, and it gotta stop. This system always gotta be makin life hard for the little man.
Kevin’s brother, Jovany, is out here grinding tryna make something happen, stayin' by his side. This is what love looks like. But it ain't enough. We need the system to step up and do the right thing. Let these parents be with their son. It's the least they can do. Show some heart for once.
Some folks gonna say, “They shoulda came here legally.” Aight, easy to say when you ain't livin' it. The legal way ain't always an option for everybody. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to survive and protect your family. Don't judge 'em till you walk a mile in their shoes. Keepin' it a hunnid.
We gotta stand in solidarity with Kevin and his family. We gotta let ICE know that we ain't gonna stand for this. We gotta demand that they release his parents and let them be with their son in his final days. This ain't just a news story, this our story. And we gotta make sure it has a different ending. Real talk.
This ain't about no policy, this about humanity. This ain't about no borders, this about blood. This about a young man tryna hold on to his family before he leaves this earth. We gotta make sure he gets that chance. Period.
