DC Politicians Fold at Midnight on Iran Bill After the President Catches an Attitude
The Senate was talking big about stopping the war yesterday, but they pulled a midnight U-turn real quick to keep the boss happy.
You gotta love how these politicians play games when they think nobody is watching. In the middle of the night, Senate Republicans held a sneaky vote to reject a bill that would’ve told the president to wrap up the war with Iran. This happened literally one day after they were all acting brave, teaming up with Democrats to pass a bill checking the president's power. But the second the president had an absolute fit and started yelling, the GOP got scared and ran back to the Capitol at midnight to delete their progress.
It’s wild to watch how fast these suits in Washington fold when the boss gets mad. Yesterday they were on TV talking about 'bipartisan rebukes' and acting like they had a backbone. But as soon as they got that smoke from the executive office, they pulled a complete 180 just to keep the president happy. It’s straight-up embarrassing.
Let's keep it 100: the system is set up to keep regular people in the dark while the politicians protect their own jobs. The Constitution says Congress is supposed to be the one deciding when we go to war under Article I. The president is only supposed to be the Commander-in-Chief running the military under Article II, not starting fights whenever he wants. But these guys in the Senate just proved they don't care about the rules when they can just cave to pressure instead.
Back in 1973, Congress passed the War Powers Resolution to stop the president from acting like a king and starting wars without permission. It was supposed to protect the kids from our neighborhoods who actually have to go fight and die in these conflicts. But this late-night flip-flop shows that those laws don't mean nothing when the politicians get shook by an executive tantrum.
This is why nobody in the community trusts what these politicians say. They’ll look you in the eye on a Thursday and say they’re trying to stop a war, and then on Friday night, they’ll vote in the dark to let the president do whatever he wants. They care more about keeping the boss happy than they do about the lives of the people who have to deal with the fallout.
By killing this resolution, the Senate GOP basically gave the green light for whatever happens next in Iran. No checks, no balances, just pure capitulation. If the president wants to escalate things, there’s nobody left in Congress with the spine to stand up and say no.
So now we’re right back where we started. The bipartisan bill is dead, the president got his way, and the Senate leadership is probably sleeping easy knowing they pacified the boss. It’s just another day of DC politicians putting on a show for the cameras and then folding when the real pressure gets applied.
Next time you hear these politicians talking about standing up for the country, just remember how fast they ran back to the office at midnight because the president got mad. They aren't running the block—they're just taking orders.
