Cops Pullin' Rank, Tryna Dodge Heat in Deadly Custody Case – Bet!
Victoria police officers screamin' 'self-incrimination' after Indigenous bruh dies in custody – ain't nothin' changed, fam.

Aight, so check it. These Victoria cops, right? They tryna play the system after Jeffrey Winmar, an Indigenous brother, ended up dead after they snatched him. Now they all hollerin' 'self-incrimination' at the inquest. Same old song and dance, different verse. They always protectin' they own, ya feel me?
This Winmar dude, 28, a Noongar man, died in the hospital on November 11th, 2023, after the police chased him down two days before. They say he was runnin' from 'em in Burwood, jumpin' fences and all that. Bodycam footage shows him droppin' after a K9 got to him. Then they cuffed him up before realizin' he was unresponsive. Real smooth.
Now, the court's lookin' into whether them cops messed up and if earlier medical attention could've saved him. Counsel Rachel Ellyard said they lookin at everything.
But here's the real tea: these cops are tryna get certificates so they can't get jammed up for anything they say during the inquest. They ain't tryna catch no disciplinary charges, nahmean? Police barrister Marion Isobel makin sure they straight, even if the family ain't.
Winmar's parents ain't havin' it. They sayin' it's BS. His father, Jeffrey Anderson, said through his daughter Rosie, 'What happened to Jeff is not right. Jeff didn’t die on his own. There needs to be accountability.' Word. And his mother, Ursulla, just want justice.
Coroner Sarah Gebert granted one of the certificates to the dog handler, Jason Nowakowski. This dude straight up said he didn't even know Winmar was Aboriginal or scared of dogs. Said he wouldn't have done anything different. See? They ain't learnin' nothin'.
This ain't just about one case, though. This is about the whole damn system. Indigenous folks dyin' in custody ain't new. It's been happenin' for generations. The Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody dropped a whole heap of recommendations back in the day, but nobody listenin'.
They sayin' Winmar died 'cause of multi-organ failure and meth use. But what put him in that situation in the first place? Why he runnin'? Why the cops chasin' him like that? They need to answer them questions, too.
This two-week inquest better be more than just talk. It better lead to some real change. We need accountability, we need transparency, and we need to stop watchin' our people die in the hands of the police. No cap. This real life.
