Conan O'Brien Hosting the Oscars? Sh*t Still Ain't Changing, Fam.
They puttin' another comedian in charge while the real folks still gettin' played by the industry game.

Aight, so Conan O'Brien gon' host the Oscars next year? Bet. But lemme keep it 100, ain't nothin' really gonna change for us. They talkin' 'bout viewership down, social media up, but that just means the same system still runnin', just on different platforms. Same gatekeepers, same lack of real rep, same struggle for the talented folks out here.
They throwin' us scraps of representation, like, “Look! One Black actor nominated!” or “We got a movie 'bout the struggle!” But it's still their story, their lens, their profit. We need ownership, not just crumbs from the table. We need to be the ones tellin' our stories, ownin' our narratives, and buildin' our own empires.
This Conan thing, it's just a distraction. While we busy debating if he funny or not, they still controllin' the money, the distribution, the whole damn system. We gotta wake up and realize that the game is rigged, and we gotta build our own table. Black-owned production companies, independent films, streaming services, all that.
They might throw in a couple of jokes 'bout Black culture, maybe a hip-hop performance to try and connect, but it's all performative. It's like puttin' a Band-Aid on a gunshot wound. The real problem is systemic, and it's gonna take more than a comedian to fix it. We need policy changes, investment in our communities, and access to resources.
Folks in the hood ain't checkin' for the Oscars like that anyway. We got real problems to deal with. Rent due, bills stackin', police harassin'. We ain't got time to watch rich folks pat each other on the back. We gotta focus on survival, on buildin' our communities, on takin' care of our families.
So, Conan can host all he want, it ain't gonna change the fact that Hollywood still a white man's world. We gotta create our own world, where our voices are heard, our stories are told, and our people are celebrated. We gotta stop waitin' for them to let us in and build our own damn door.
I ain't hatin' on Conan, he gettin' his bag. But let's not act like this is some revolutionary moment. It's just another cog in the machine. The real revolution gon' come from the ground up, from the streets, from the people who ain't got nothin' to lose.
Real talk, the Oscars ain't for us. It's for them. We gotta build our own awards, our own platforms, our own everything. We gotta stop seekin' validation from a system that was never meant to include us.
They can have their ratings, they can have their social media buzz, we buildin' our own legacy. Period.
Keep your eyes on the real prize: ownership, representation, and empowerment. The rest is just noise. Ain't nothin but a distraction.
At the end of the day, the game remains the same. Black people are going to continue to struggle for opportunity in hollywood. The system has not changed.
