Chicago Mayor Say Restaurants Still on Dat Slave Sh*t, For Real
Brandon Johnson tryna end these lil' a** wages, sayin' it's 'bout reparations and lookin' out for Black folks in the service industry.

Aight, so check it. Mayor Brandon Johnson out here wildin', connectin' the dots between the restaurant game and slavery. I know, I know, sounds crazy, right? But peep what he sayin'. He fightin' to get rid of that subminimum wage for servers, that lil' chump change they try to pay us before tips.
He basically told the City Council, y'all trippin', tryna take bread outta Black and Brown folks' pockets. 'Cause let's be real, who be servin' yo' food? Who be bustin' they backs for them tips? It ain't usually the folks up top.
Johnson sayin' this ain't just 'bout no wage, it's 'bout reparations. He dropped half a mil on this Reparations Task Force, tryna fix the mess slavery and racism done made. He even got this bus tour, 'Repair Chicago,' hearin' stories 'bout how the system been f*in' wit' Black folks for generations.
The man basically sayin' the restaurant industry got its roots in slavery, and these low wages just another way to keep us down. Some folks mad, sayin' he makin' it a race thing when it ain't. But come on, we ain't stupid. We see who be gettin' the short end of the stick.
Some restaurant owners cryin' 'bout how they gon' have to raise prices or lay folks off. But where that same energy when they makin' record profits off our labor? They always find a way to squeeze us, man.
This whole tipping thing is kinda suspect anyway. Why we gotta rely on folks' generosity to make a livin'? Should be gettin' paid a fair wage straight up, no questions asked. Then the restaurant can worry about tips and prices.
Real talk, ain't nobody tryna live off crumbs. We need that bread, man. Rent high, food high, everything costin' more. We gotta hustle just to survive. So if Johnson really tryna do somethin' for the community, he gotta keep pushin' for these changes. It's overdue.
Johnson veto'd they move to keep the wages down. This is Chicago. We fightin' for what's ours, you heard? No cap.
