Chi-Town Science Museum Be Pushin' Corporate Game, Nahmean?
Chevy Humphrey tryna drop some 'scientific method' knowledge on business folks at the Griffin, but is it really 'bout helping the community, or jus' boostin' the man's bottom line?
Aight, so check it. Word on the street is Chevy Humphrey's over at the Griffin Science Museum in Chicago, talkin' 'bout how the scientific method can help businesses. Sounds cool, right? But hold up, before we start clappin', let's keep it 100.
We talkin' 'bout the same scientific method they use to justify all kinda shady stuff? Like when they say, 'scientifically proven' to charge us more for the same gas? Or 'scientifically proven' these new pills good for us, but end up with folks hooked and sicker than before?
So, Ms. Humphrey tryna get these corporations to use science? For what? To make even more money off us? To find new ways to gentrify our neighborhoods? 'Cause ain't nobody forgot what happened when they started talkin' 'bout 'urban renewal.' That was just a fancy way to kick us out and build condos for the rich.
Real talk, the scientific method ain't nothin' but a tool. And like any tool, it can be used for good or for evil. In the hands of these corporations, it usually ends up bein' used to exploit us. They’ll run all kinda tests, analyze all the data, but at the end of the day, it’s all about that dollar.
They gon' say it's about 'innovation' and 'efficiency.' But we know what that really means: layoffs and automation. They gon' replace us with robots and then tell us to 'learn to code.' Like that's gon' solve everything. Shiiiiit.
And the Griffin Science Museum? They just playin' their part. Pretending to care about the community while takin' that corporate money. Ain't nothin' changed. Same song, different verse.
Look, I ain't sayin' science is bad. Science gave us penicillin, right? But we gotta be real about who controls it and who benefits. 'Cause right now, it ain't us.
This ain't a new game neither. Remember Tuskegee? Yeah, scientists used the scientific method alright. The scientific method of experimentin' on Black folks without their permission. So, excuse me if I'm a little skeptical when I hear 'scientific method' and 'business' in the same sentence.
They can dress it up all they want, put a bow on it, add some sprinkles, but it’s still the same corporate hustle. They'll use fancy words like 'data-driven decision-making' and 'key performance indicators.' But all that just means findin' new ways to squeeze the juice out of us.
So, next time you hear 'bout some corporation usin' the scientific method, ask yourself: who's really benefitin'? 'Cause it probably ain't the folks on the block. Keep it real, know what I'm sayin'?
