Chaos in Parliament: Female MP Accuses Colleague of Assault as Campaign Tour Gets Shut Down
With the election just five months away, internal drama and police investigations are turning the Liberal party upside down.

The political scene in Victoria is getting messy, and this time it is happening right inside the Liberal party room. Word is a female MP is accusing one of her own colleagues of putting hands on her at a community event last month. Now we got a full-blown crisis going down just five months before everyone heads to the polls for the state election in November.
According to the police, the incident went down last month, but the victim did not report it to the cops until June 16. She went to the party bosses first to try and sort it out, but clearly, that did not work out, so now the law is involved. Victoria Police confirmed they are looking into an assault between two people who know each other, though they made sure to mention she did not need to go to the hospital.
But here is where it gets even crazier: there is CCTV footage of whatever happened, and it is already making the rounds. The accused MP is not staying quiet either. People close to him are saying he completely denies the whole thing and is looking to sue his colleague for defamation. When the lawyers start getting brought up, you know the trust is completely gone.
This whole mess is a massive headache for Liberal Leader Jess Wilson. She took over the top job back in November and has been working overtime to stop the moderates and the conservatives in her party from fighting. She was right in the middle of a massive five-week tour, trying to hit up all 88 electorates in the state to show they were ready to run things. Now, all her media events in Melbourne and regional Victoria are canceled, and she is stuck telling the public to respect 'due process' and the 'presumption of innocence.'
Meanwhile, Labor is loving the drama. Attorney General Sonya Kilkenny did not waste any time, immediately coming out with ten questions for Wilson, asking why a guy under police investigation is still allowed to hang out in the party room. She also wanted to know if this was sent to the Parliamentary Workplace Standards and Integrity Commission, which Labor set up back in late 2024 to deal with shady behavior by politicians. The commission, though, is staying quiet, saying they have to keep things confidential to be fair.
At the end of the day, regular people are just watching these politicians act wild while an election is right around the corner. The Liberals are supposed to be fighting for votes against a surging One Nation, but instead, they are fighting each other and dodging the cameras. It just goes to show that no matter how clean they try to look in their suits, the drama behind closed doors is always ready to spill out into the streets.
