Bombay to Mumbai: Same Struggle, Different Century – They Ain't Changed the Game, Just the Name
This 'Bombay Framed' exhibit tryin' to show how the city changed, but for the folks on the block, it's still the same hustle, different struggle.

Aight, so they got this exhibit, 'Bombay Framed,' tryna tell the story of how Bombay turned into Mumbai. But lemme tell you somethin', from the streets, it ain't feel like much changed. They talkin' 'bout land reclamation and buildin's, but what about the people? What about the folks grindin' every day just to eat?
They talkin' 'bout connectin' the islands and makin' it one big city. But all that did was push folks further out, raise the rent, and make it harder for the little man to survive. They tore down the walls, they say, to make way for progress. But progress for who? The rich folks in their fancy towers, while the rest of us fight over scraps?
Marine Drive look pretty, I ain't gonna lie. But that Art Deco ain't feedin' nobody. It's just a backdrop for the tourists and the elites to flex on Instagram while people sleep on the streets. They say it's a city of contrasts, with the luxury towers next to the slums. But that ain't no contrast, that's just the truth. That's how they built this whole system, on the backs of the poor.
This Chittaprosad dude, the artist in the exhibit, he was keepin' it real with the social commentary. That's what we need more of. Ain't no point in paintin' pretty pictures when the whole system is rotten. They wanna show the Parsi folks and the big shots, but what about the regular workers? The ones who build the buildings, clean the streets, and keep the city runnin'? They the real heroes, but they never get no shine.
They keep buildin' bridges and roads, but who benefitin'? The folks who already got cars and can afford to drive on them. What about the public transport? What about the people who gotta take the train and the bus every day, packed in like sardines?
They can change the name from Bombay to Mumbai, but they ain't changed the game. It's still the same struggle, different century. Rich gettin' richer, poor stayin' poor. Unless we start organizin' and fightin' for our rights, it's gonna be the same old story forever. Real talk.
