16 Young Queens Gone: School Fire in Kenya Shows They Don't Value Black Lives
Another tragedy overseas, but the pain hits home – these our sisters, and they deserved better than to die like that.

GILGIL, KENYA – Straight up, this ain't just some news story. This the reality for our people all over the world. Sixteen young sisters gone in a fire at Utumishi Girls School in Kenya, and 79 more hurt bad. They talkin' 'bout an investigation, but we know how that goes – all talk, no action. They ain't gonna do nothin' to really fix it.
Utumishi Girls School supposed to be a place where these young women get they education, get they future. But the system failed 'em. Overcrowded dorms, faulty wiring, no real fire safety – that's not an accident, that's neglect. They ain't value these girls lives, plain and simple. That's why they let this happen.
We seen this before. Schools in our communities always gettin' the short end. Less money, older buildings, less resources. They try to tell us it's 'cause of the economy, but we know the truth. They don't care about us. They don't care if our kids make it or not. They want us to stay down. This is bigger than just a fire. This is about the system, man.
The government gonna say they sendin' condolences, offerin' support. But where was that support before the fire? Where's the money for the schools that need it? Where's the investment in our communities? This ain't about charity, it's about justice. These girls deserved to be safe. They deserved a chance.
We gotta hold them accountable. We gotta demand change. We gotta make sure this never happens again. That means organizin', speakin' out, and fightin' for our people. We gotta uplift our community ourselves.
The names of those 16 young women ain't just names. They was daughters, sisters, friends, future leaders. They had dreams, aspirations, and lives cut short by a system that don't care about 'em. We gotta honor their memory by fightin' for a better future for all our kids.
This ain't just a Kenya problem, this is a Black problem. We gotta support our brothers and sisters across the globe. We gotta stand together against oppression and injustice. We gotta show the world that Black lives matter, no matter where we at. Remember this and start putting in work, no excuses.
So, let's mourn our sisters, but let's also get to work. Let's build a better world for our kids. Let's show them that we love 'em, we believe in 'em, and we'll fight for 'em till the end. No cap. For real, all that 'rest in peace' talk is cute but what are we gon' DO. This fire ain't about to be the end of us, bet that.
