Wildlife OG Doug Allan Done Passed, Trekking Out in Nepal, RIP
Real talk, the dude put in work capturing nature, but how much that actually change for the hood?

Aight, so I heard Doug Allan, that white dude who filmed all them nature shows with Attenborough, kicked the bucket up in Nepal. 74 years old, ain't bad. But real shit, gotta ask, did his fancy camera work really do anything for us out here?
They sayin' he was "immersed in nature and surrounded by friends." Sounds peaceful, I guess. Better than gettin' caught up in the streets. But let's keep it 100, that nature stuff always felt kinda distant, like a whole other world separate from the block.
He started out as a research diver in Antarctica? Man, that's some privileged explorer shit. Meanwhile, we over here fighting to keep our heads above water, literally and figuratively. Try survivin' out here, then tell me about penguins.
Then he meets Attenborough, boom, instant connection. It's who you know, man. Always been that way. He sells some penguin footage to BBC and suddenly he's a big shot. That's how the game go, connect with the right people and you straight.
Eight Emmys and five Baftas? They love givin' awards to folks who show pretty pictures of animals. But how 'bout some awards for the people fightin' the real battles out here, against poverty, police brutality, and all that? Nah, they ain't worried 'bout that.
He spent 620 days filmin' polar bears? That's dedication, I'll give him that. But what about the kids in the hood, spendin' every day tryin' to survive? Where's the cameras on that? Where's the funding for that?
He got messed with by a walrus? Sounds like a comedy skit. But for real, it's a reminder that nature don't play. It's a jungle out there, whether you're in the Arctic or the South Bronx. Gotta stay strapped, mentally and physically.
So, yeah, Doug Allan passed on. He did his thing. Made his money. Got his accolades. But let's not pretend like his nature documentaries magically solved all the problems in the world, especially not the ones we face every day.
It's cool that he showed folks the beauty of nature, but we gotta remember there's beauty and struggle right here in our own communities too. And that's what we gotta focus on. That's what we gotta uplift.
Rest in peace to Doug Allan, but let's keep our eyes on the real prize: building a better world for ourselves and our kids, right here, right now. No cap.
