Uni System Playin' Games: Cuts Hit Hardest Where They Hurt the Most
These universities talkin' 'bout hardship, but they ain't the ones on the struggle bus – real talk, this mess gonna mess up the youth.

Aight, check it. These UK universities straight trippin'. They claimin' they broke and might gotta cut back on the support for students from the hood. Word is, these cats at Universities UK (UUK) did a survey, and now they talkin' 'bout less bread for folks who already hustlin' just to stay in school.
Third of these vice-chancellors, the big bosses at the unis, sayin' they might gotta cut hardship funds. That's the money that helps students cop food, pay rent, and keep the lights on. And over half of 'em ready to axe the outreach programs that get kids from the block even thinkin' 'bout college. This ain't just numbers, this is people's lives we talkin' 'bout.
These cuts comin' at the worst time, fam. Rent high, food prices crazy, and everybody workin' just to survive. If they chop the hardship funds, folks gonna have to choose between school and eatin'. Straight up.
Vivienne Stern from UUK, she talkin' 'bout needin' a “serious conversation” 'bout money. But that convo gotta be about how they spendin' it in the first place. Where the money goin'? 'Cause it ain't look like it's helpin' the students who need it most.
Professor Lee Elliot-Major sayin' this gonna pull the ladder up on a whole generation. Facts. It's like they tryin' to keep us out. Make it so only the rich kids can get a degree. That ain't right.
Katy Hampshire from the Sutton Trust pointin' out that students from low-income backgrounds already strugglin'. Skippin' meals, missin' class to work, graduatin' with mad debt. This cuttin' hardship funds is just gonna make it worse. It's a straight-up injustice.
And it ain't just the student support gettin' hit. They talkin' 'bout layin' off staff and cuttin' research money too. So the whole system gettin' shook.
King’s College London absorbin' Cranfield University is just a sign of things to come. Big schools gettin' bigger, and small schools gettin' swallowed up. This ain't good for diversity or for access.
This whole situation messed up, and they need to listen up. They gotta do better if they want a future with equal opportunity.
