They Fixin' Up the Reflecting Pool, But What About the Hood?
National Mall gettin' a glow-up while folks out here still strugglin' – where the priorities at?
Aight, so they talkin' 'bout renovatin' the Reflecting Pool down on the National Mall. That jont where MLK dropped the 'I Have a Dream' speech, ya dig? Cool and all, it's historic, I get it. But hold up, lemme keep it 100 – how 'bout they fix up the hood first? We got potholes bigger than my mama's Cadillac, schools lookin' like they from the Stone Age, and folks out here barely makin' ends meet.
This ain't about disrespectin' history, it's about priorities. They got money to make that pool look all shiny and new, but can't find a dime for after-school programs or job training in the community? That ain't right. We talkin' 'bout a pool that rich folks and tourists look at, while real folks out here drownin' in problems. Where the love at for the people actually livin' in this country, grindin' every day just to survive?
And don't even get me started on the gentrification. They fixin' up these monuments while pushin' us out of our own neighborhoods. Raise the rent, build fancy condos, and suddenly we can't afford to live where our families been for generations. It's a whole system designed to keep us down, and this pool renovation is just another example. And they keep talkin' bout how it needs to stay up to date and be pretty, but look at the city! The people need more than some water to look at, they need some help.
So yeah, fix the pool. Make it look nice. But don't act like that's more important than feedin' kids, providin' healthcare, and creatin' opportunities for the folks who built this country. We see through the BS. Put some respek on the people who struggle every day. Real talk.
They need to stop playin' and start payin' attention to the real problems facing the community. This ain't about lookin' pretty for the tourists, it's about liftin' up the people who been holdin' this nation together. Word.
