The Guardian Droppin' a New Podcast: 'Stateside with Kai and Carter' - But Is It Really For Us?
Kai Wright and Carter Sherman tryna break down the news, but will they keep it real or just talk over our heads?

Aight, so The Guardian, that newspaper that usually talks 'bout stuff nobody I know actually cares about, is droppin' a new podcast called 'Stateside with Kai and Carter.' They sayin' it's gonna be 'conversations with the best journalists and biggest thinkers.' But let's be real, is this really for us, or is it just another way for them to talk at us?
Hosted by Kai Wright and Carter Sherman, these folks supposed to be breakin' down the news and current events. But I'm wonderin', are they gonna touch on the real issues affectin' the hood? Are they gonna talk 'bout police brutality, the lack of jobs, the messed-up education system? Or are they gonna be talkin' 'bout stuff that only rich folks in fancy neighborhoods care about?
They sayin' it's gonna be on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify, so you can peep it wherever you at. But honestly, who got time to be listenin' to some long-winded podcast when you tryna hustle and make ends meet? They need to make it short, sweet, and to the point, if they really tryna reach the people.
I'm hopin' they actually bringin' on some real voices, not just the same old talking heads we always hearin' from. We need to hear from the people on the ground, the ones who actually livin' this life. We need to hear from the activists, the organizers, the folks who tryna make a change in their communities.
But I ain't holdin' my breath. Most of these media outlets, they don't really care about what we got to say. They just tryna push their own agenda and get clicks and views. So, we gotta be smart and stay woke. Don't just believe everything you hear. Do your own research and think for yourself.
I'm gonna give it a listen, see what it's all about. But if it ain't keepin' it 100, I'm checkin' out. We need media that's real, that's authentic, that's speakin' to our experiences. We don't need no more fake news or corporate propaganda.
This podcast gotta talk about the real issues that affect the black community and that means talking about the systemic stuff. I’m talking about generational poverty, mass incarceration, and lack of access to resources, fam.
We also gotta see if these people walking the walk. Are they supporting black businesses? Are they donating to organizations that are working to uplift the community? Or are they just talking the talk, ya feel me?
