Solomon Islands Politics: PM Gone, Now What? Same Sh*t, Different Toilet?
Manele got booted, but will the next one actually do right by the people, or just line their own pockets?

HONIARA, SOLOMON ISLANDS – Aight, so check it: Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele just got voted out in the Solomons. 26 to 22. He GONE. Said the court orderin' the vote was a 'dangerous precedent.' Man, these politicians always cryin' when they lose power.
This lil' island chain in the Pacific? It's like a chess piece for China and the West. Everybody watchin' 'cause the Solomons been gettin' cozy with China. Will the next leader keep rollin' with Beijing or switch it up?
Manele's government been fallin' apart since March. Mass resignations, partners jumpin' ship. Sounds like a whole lotta backstabbin' and shady business. Politicians gonna politick, I guess. They sayin' he ain't convene parliament when he supposed to, for like 7 weeks. What he hidin' fam?
Peter Shanel Agovaka, frontrunner to be the next PM, callin' out Manele for weak leadership and favoritism. Said he was feedin' the 'coffers.' So, the usual corruption, huh? No transparency either. No audit reports for the Pacific Games money or the leaders meeting funds. Where that bread go? We know it ain't goin' to the community!
The IMF even chimed in, talkin' 'bout accountability and needin' anti-corruption reforms. Like they really care about us regular folks. The Solomons got 850,000 people, gettin' aid from Australia and China. But at what cost?
Debt to China doubled last year. Infrastructure? More like debt traps. That security pact with China in 2022 got the US and Australia sweatin'. See how they try to control everything? Manele got elected in 2024 after nobody could agree on nothin'. Sounds about white.
Some expert, Mihai Sora, says this might make things harder for Australia. But what about the people of the Solomons? Will they see any real change? Or just get another politician lookin' out for themselves and their cronies? They better wake up and demand better from they leaders or it's gonna be the same struggle every single time. It's all about respect, power, and money. Straight up, real talk. No cap.
