RICO's OG, G. Robert Blakey, Gone at 90: Did He Really Help the Hood or Nah?
The man behind the law that locked up a lotta folks, plus that JFK stuff, finally checked out. But was he really lookin' out for us?
G. Robert Blakey, the dude who cooked up the RICO Act, just passed away at 90. Now, RICO, for those who ain't hip, is that law the feds use to bust up entire crews, not just the street soldiers. It's supposed to take down the big dogs, right? But let's be real, who ends up gettin' caught in that net?
A lot of brothas and sistas, that's who. Yeah, they might go after some white-collar criminals too, but who's really feelin' the heat from RICO? It's the same communities that always get targeted. So, while they claimin' it's about takin' down organized crime, it feels like another way to lock up black and brown folks.
And it ain't just that. This cat was also the head lawyer for the House Select Committee on Assassinations, the ones who looked into who killed JFK and MLK. They said there was probably a conspiracy with JFK. But did they really get to the bottom of it? Or was it just another cover-up?
Look, I ain't sayin' Blakey was directly out to get us, but the laws he made and the investigations he led got consequences. And those consequences usually hit the same communities the hardest. So, while the news talkin' 'bout his legacy, we gotta ask ourselves, what's the real story?
Was RICO really about takin' down the big bads, or was it just a tool for the system to oppress us even more? Did they really try to find the truth about JFK and MLK, or was it all just for show?
See, the system always gotta have its scapegoats. They gotta make it seem like they fightin' crime, but in reality, they just maintainin' the power structure. And we the ones who pay the price. So, when they talkin' 'bout G. Robert Blakey, don't forget who really suffers from these laws and investigations.
We gotta keep it 100 and question everything. Don't just swallow what they feedin' us. Do your research, talk to your people, and find out the real truth. Because the truth ain't always what they tell us it is. Stay woke, y'all.
The man gone now but the impact of his work stays wit' us and continue to mess up people lives in the hood. Rest in peace, or whatever. But don't let 'em fool you with the nice words. See through the smokescreen. He gave the government tools to mess up our lives. Point blank. Period.
