Real Talk: This Scholar Breakin' Down How Racism Still Runnin' the Game
Kimberlé Crenshaw droppin' knowledge on CRT and why it's important to understand how the system been set up against us from day one, no cap.

Aight, listen up. Kimberlé Williams Crenshaw, a law professor at UCLA and Columbia, keepin' it 100. She talkin' 'bout Critical Race Theory (CRT), somethin' she helped build. This ain't no academic mumbo jumbo, this is 'bout how race still plays a major role in the system, even if they try to play it off like everything cool now.
Crenshaw ain't just pullin' this outta thin air. She grew up in Ohio, seein' how folks get treated different. She call it "talkin' back" – callin' out the BS when you see it. She the one who came up with "intersectionality," which means how different parts of yo' identity (like race, gender, class) can all pile on the discrimination at once. It ain't just one thing, it's a whole mess of stuff.
She got the idea from this case way back, DeGraffenreid v. General Motors. This Black woman sued GM sayin' they discriminated against her for bein' Black and a woman. But the court was trippin', sayin' she gotta sue for one or the other, not both! Crenshaw was like, "Nah, that ain't how it works. They treatin' her wrong 'cause she Black and a woman. It's the whole package!"
That's where CRT come in. It's 'bout understandin' that race ain't just some accident, it's built into the way this country works. Crenshaw said it herself: look at how they wrote slavery right into the Constitution, without even sayin' the word 'slavery.' And look at the Montgomery bus boycott – that was 'cause of anti-Black policies. That's CRT in action.
Now, these politicians wanna call CRT "toxic propaganda" and ban it from schools. They don't want nobody learnin' the real history, the real reasons why things are the way they are. But Crenshaw ain't backin' down. She got a new book out, "Backtalker," where she explain how she came up with these ideas and how she see the system tryin' to twist 'em.
She remember when Martin Luther King Jr. got assassinated. Felt like the wind got knocked outta everybody. But she ain't lettin' that stop her. We gotta keep fightin' for equality, even when they try to change the rules or rewrite the story.
Bottom line: Crenshaw keepin' it real. CRT ain't 'bout hatin' nobody, it's 'bout understandin' the system so we can change it. We gotta know the truth, even when it's ugly. That's the only way we gonna get free.
