Real Talk: Memorial Day Ain't Just Bout Cookouts, It's Bout Respect
They gon' play the bagpipes and salute, but is they really rememberin' the brothas and sistas who ain't comin' home?

Aight, look. Memorial Day. They got the ceremonies, the wreaths, the whole nine. But let's keep it 100, fam. This ain't just 'bout throwin' down on the grill and poppin' bottles. This 'bout rememberin' them soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who ain't here no more. Especially the brothas and sistas who laid down they lives for a country that still don't always got they back.
They talk 'bout 'sacrifice' and 'freedom,' but what that really mean when you come back home and can't get a decent job? What that mean when you still gotta fight for equal rights? They salute in front of the cameras, but the VA still playin' games with folks' healthcare. It's a whole lotta talk, but the action ain't always matchin' the words, ya dig?
Yeah, it's cool to see the parades and all that. But what we really need is real change. We need resources for our veterans. We need mental health support that's culturally relevant. We need opportunities that ain't just handouts, but real pathways to success. 'Cause let's be real, a lot of these cats come back with scars, both inside and out. They need more than just a pat on the back.
And don't even get me started on the politicians. They love to wrap themselves in the flag, but they ain't really 'bout that life. They'll send our young folks off to war without a second thought, then cut funding for veterans' programs. It's a cold game, man. A cold game.
So, yeah, fire up the grill. Enjoy the day off. But take a minute to really remember what this day is all about. Remember the fallen. Remember the sacrifices. And remember that we gotta keep fightin' for a better future for our veterans and for our community. 'Cause ain't nobody gonna do it for us.
And shoutout to all the Black soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who put they lives on the line. Y'all the realest. We see you. We appreciate you. And we ain't gonna let nobody forget your sacrifice.
Peace.
