Real Talk in VA: Sanctuary Policy Backfires Big Time After Out-of-Town Suspect Gets Let Loose to Terrorize Local Parks
No cap, the system messed up heavy by letting a man with major drug charges walk right back onto the streets of Fairfax County.

It’s getting wild out here in Fairfax County, and the folks running the local government have some serious explaining to do. On Tuesday, police locked up Moises Domingo Rico Rosales, a Nicaraguan national, after some crazy situations at Wakefield Park in Annandale. This man is facing heavy charges: exposing himself to one woman and then trying to drag another woman into the woods. He's charged with abduction with intent to defile and indecent exposure.
But here is the part that has everybody in the community heated: this dude should have been nowhere near Virginia in the first place. He crossed the border in Arizona back in 2022 and got let go by the federal government. Then, in 2024, he got busted right here in Fairfax County for felony drug trafficking. That’s a major charge. But Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano—the county's top prosecutor—dropped the charges, letting him walk.
To make matters worse, ICE actually sent a detainer to the local jail, asking them to hold him so they could deport him. But because Fairfax County has these "sanctuary" rules, the local officials refused to cooperate with federal immigration officers. They claimed they couldn't hold him without a warrant signed by a judge. So instead of sending him back, they just opened the cell doors and let him slide back onto our streets.
Now, the Department of Homeland Security is calling out Governor Abigail Spanberger and the rest of the local politicians. DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis called the suspect a "predator" and said these open-border and sanctuary policies are creating innocent victims. She’s demanding that they don't let him go this time and hand him over to ICE immediately.
Honestly, regular people are tired of the political games. You’ve got the feds blaming the local sheriff, and the local sheriff pointing fingers back, while normal folks can't even walk through a park without looking over their shoulder. This is the exact same garbage that happened a few months back when Abdul Jalloh—a guy with over 30 prior arrests—was charged with the second-degree murder of Stephanie Minter at a local bus stop.
These politicians like Descano and Sheriff Stacey Kincaid got dragged in front of a House Judiciary subcommittee recently to explain why they keep letting criminal illegal immigrants loose. They kept hiding behind legal jargon, saying they need a judicial warrant to hold anyone for ICE. Meanwhile, the streets are paying the price for their legal loopholes.
If you're going to talk about keeping the community safe, you’ve got to keep it 100. Dropping felony drug charges on a guy and then ignoring immigration holds isn't protecting anyone. It’s just leaving the community vulnerable to the next disaster.
