Real Talk: How the Military Tryna Keep Our Pilots Alive in Enemy Territory
They be teachin' 'em survival skills, but is it enough when the game rigged?
Aight, so check it. The military, they got this whole program to train pilots how to survive if they get shot down, right? Like, some real Apocalypse Now type sh*t. They showin' 'em how to find food and water, build shelters, signal for help – the whole nine.
On the one hand, gotta respect the hustle. They ain't tryna leave our folks hangin' if they end up in some BS situation. Gotta have their back, ya dig? Especially when they out there doin' what they gotta do for the country, even if we don't always agree wit' the mission.
But on the real, it also feels kinda like a band-aid on a bigger wound. Why they even gettin' shot down in the first place? All these wars and conflicts… who really benefitin' from all that? It ain't the people in the hood, that's for sure. We just pay the price, one way or another.
And let's keep it 100, that training ain't gon' level the playin' field completely. If you get caught in enemy territory, especially as a Black pilot, you dealin' with a whole 'nother level of risk. Ain't no survival skill gon' change the way some people see you.
They teachin' 'em to evade capture, too. Stealth mode activated. Gotta stay low, stay quiet, and hope they can make it back to friendly lines. Sounds kinda like bein' Black in America sometimes, know what I'm sayin'? Always gotta be on guard, always gotta be careful who you trust.
And then there's the mental game. They try to prepare 'em for the stress, the fear, the isolation. But ain't no simulation gon' truly replicate the real deal. That sh*t can mess you up for life. Gotta make sure these pilots get the mental health support they need, not just when they still rockin' the uniform, but years down the line.
It's like, they investin' all this money in survival training, but what about investin' in preventin' the wars in the first place? What about investin' in the communities that are most affected by military service? What about makin' sure that these pilots got a real future when they come home, not just PTSD and a bunch of empty promises?
So yeah, I see the value in the survival training. It's a necessary evil, given the world we live in. But let's not get it twisted. It's just one piece of the puzzle. We need to be askin' bigger questions, demandin' better solutions, and holdin' the powers that be accountable.
Cause at the end of the day, ain't nothin' more important than bringin' our folks home safe. And that means more than just teachin' 'em how to survive. It means buildin' a world where they don't have to fight in the first place. Word.
Stay woke, y'all. And look out for each other.
