Pulitzer Prizes Droppin': But Is It Really For Us?
Another year, another awards show... but how much of that shine reachin' the streets?

Aight, so the Pulitzer Prizes just dropped, right? Supposedly celebrating the best in journalism and arts. But the real question is, who these awards really for? Cause most times, it feel like it's just another way for the bougie folks to pat each other on the back.
These prizes, created by this dude Pulitzer, are supposed to be about excellence and all that. But let's keep it 100, how many stories from the hood actually gettin' recognized? How many Black artists, Latino writers, and folks from the struggle gettin' their due?
Nah, more often than not, it's the same old establishment getting the shine. The folks with the connections, the Ivy League degrees, and the narratives that fit the mainstream agenda. Meanwhile, the real stories, the raw truth from the streets, stay buried.
We talkin' 'bout the homies grindin' to make beats, the poets spillin' their guts at open mics, the journalists fightin' to expose police brutality. Where they awards at?
These institutions need to wake up and realize that talent ain't just found in fancy galleries and newsrooms. It's in the struggle, in the pain, in the everyday lives of the people who are rarely seen and even more rarely heard. Gotta recognize real talent in the hood, not just the people perpetuatin' the same narratives.
We need more platforms that uplift Black voices, show Latino excellence, and other marginalized communities get heard. We need to build our own tables, where we can celebrate our own stories and define our own success. We gotta uplift each other cause the system ain't gonna do it for us.
So, yeah, congrats to the Pulitzer Prize winners. But don't get it twisted. The real awards are the respect and recognition we get from our own communities. That's what really matters at the end of the day. This is for us, by us, and we gonna celebrate that till the day we die.
Keep grindin', keep creatin', and keep tellin' your truth. The world needs to hear it. Period. Word up.
These institutions gotta wake up, open they eyes and realize we here, and we ain't goin nowhere.
One love.
