Politicians Throwing Tantrums Over Lunch While the Hood Is Left Waiting on Housing Bills
Trump is calling up Speaker Mike Johnson for a 2 PM showdown while the Senate takes a sudden two-week vacation after getting yelled at.

Man, things are completely wild up in Washington DC today. It’s straight up chaos on Capitol Hill, and you already know the regular people are the ones getting the short end of the stick. While folks on the street are struggling to pay rent, Donald Trump just killed a bipartisan housing bill hours before it was supposed to be signed. Instead of giving people some real relief, these politicians are playing mind games and fighting over voter ID laws while the system remains completely locked up.
It got so heated yesterday that the entire US Senate literally packed up their bags and went on a sudden two-week vacation. This went down right after a crazy lunch meeting where Trump showed up for the first time in forever. The whole thing turned into a straight-up yelling match over the US-Israel war on Iran and loyalty tests. Imagine getting paid by the taxpayers, getting into a shouting match over lunch, and then deciding you're taking a two-week break. Must be nice.
During this lunch, Senator Bill Cassidy from Louisiana got into it with Trump. Trump was coming down hard on four senators, including Cassidy, for trying to put a leash on the war in the Middle East. Senator John Kennedy didn't hold back either, telling reporters afterward that the government hasn't been keeping it real with the American people about what’s actually going on. Kennedy said the war was supposed to last four weeks, but it's been going on for four months now. Just more endless conflict while the neighborhood gets neglected.
Now, Trump is putting the squeeze on House Speaker Mike Johnson to get things moving. They’re scheduled to meet up at 2:00 PM today to figure out how to break this legislative deadlock. Trump is demanding the Senate change up their whole rulebook to push through a highly controversial voter ID bill called the Save Act. This bill is causing a massive split between the White House and the Senate, and Johnson is stuck in the middle trying to get a stubborn House to do Trump's bidding as a favor.
But Johnson’s got his own problems. He's trying to stop a rebellion from the right wing of his own Republican crew who are holding up the vote on the Save Act. Meanwhile, the Democrats are dealing with their own internal drama. Senator Chris Van Hollen from Maryland just went behind the back of his leader, Chuck Schumer, to endorse a progressive candidate named Abdul El-Sayed in the Michigan Senate primary. It’s a total civil war on both sides of the aisle, and nobody is focused on helping the community.
