NSW Cops Sweepin' Up Folks For DV: Is This Justice or Just More Oppression?
Nine hunnid arrests in a DV sting—but is it really helpin' the community, or just another way to lock up folks?

Aight, so NSW Police done went and scooped up 993 folks in a four-day domestic violence sweep. 2,063 charges, damn. They sayin' it's all about protectin' people, keepin' the community safe. But real talk, is this really justice, or just another way to harass and lock up folks who already struggle hard out here?
They hit up 1,847 bail compliance checks, which means they went straight to people's cribs to make sure they followin' the rules. But what if them rules ain't fair in the first place? What if somebody miss a check-in 'cause they workin' two jobs to make ends meet? It's easy to get caught up when you tryna survive.
And while they lockin' people up, Albanese out here talkin' 'bout fixin' the housing market. He sayin' he gonna make it easier for first home buyers by changin' up the taxes on investors. But that sound like a whole lotta nothin' to folks on the block. Investors still gonna be eatin', no matter what.
He talkin' 'bout capital gains tax and negative gearin'. Man, most folks ain't even know what that is. All they know is rent high, wages low, and they hustlin' just to stay afloat. Politicians always talkin' in code, makin' promises they can't keep.
This whole DV sweep feelin' suspect, tho. Like they just tryna look good for the media. What about addressin' the real reasons why people get violent in the first place? Poverty, stress, mental health issues—ain't nobody talkin' 'bout that. They just wanna throw people in cages and call it a day.
What about the folks who need help? Are the cops connectin' 'em to resources, like shelters, counseling, and job training? Or are they just addin' to the problem by breakin' up families and makin' it harder for people to get back on their feet? We gotta demand more than just arrests. We gotta demand real solutions.
The system ain't built for us. It's designed to keep us down. So we gotta look out for each other. If you know someone goin' through a tough time, reach out. Let 'em know they ain't alone. And if you need help, don't be afraid to ask. We gotta build our own support network, 'cause ain't nobody else gonna do it for us.
This ain't about bein' soft on crime. It's about bein' smart. It's about understandin' that lockin' people up ain't gonna solve nothin'. We gotta invest in our communities, create opportunities, and address the root causes of violence. That's the only way we gonna break this cycle.
