Norway Trippin': Blocks Extradition of Activist Fightin' for Migrants in Greece
That Norwegian court just curved Greece, sayin' that bro Tommy Olsen ain't gotta answer for lookin' out for folks at sea. Real talk.

TROMSØ, Norway – Aight, so check it. This Norwegian court just did somethin' kinda righteous, for once. They shut down Greece's request to extradite Tommy Olsen, the dude runnin' the Aegean Boat Report. Word is, this cat was gettin' jammed up for tryna help migrants out in the Aegean Sea. But these judges in Norway was like, nah, we ain't sendin' him. That's what's up.
Now, Greece, they been comin' down hard on folks helpin' out migrants. They arrested Olsen back in March off some warrant claimin' he was facilitatin' illegal immigration. Straight bogus. But this Norwegian court, they saw through the BS. They was like, yo, this dude's just tryin' to keep people from drownin', ain't nothin' illegal 'bout that.
Olsen's lawyer in Athens, this cat Zacharias Kesses, said it's a big win for human rights. And he ain't lyin'. See, Europe been on some other stuff lately, lockin' up folks for helpin' folks. But Norway stepped up and said, nah, we ain't part of that. Salute to that. And peep this, the Norwegian prosecution ain't even gonna appeal. Case closed.
Aegean Boat Report, Olsen's organization, they been callin' out Greece for doin' these dirty 'pushbacks' – basically, kickin' migrants back out to sea without lettin' 'em apply for asylum. Real shady stuff. Greece denyin' it, but the proof is in the puddin'.
Greece tryin' to paint Olsen as some kinda smuggler, runnin' a whole criminal operation. But we see through that. They just tryna silence anyone who calls out their BS. Amnesty International and other groups been hollerin' at Norway not to send Olsen back, callin' this a misuse of anti-smugglin' laws to shut down folks showin' solidarity. Facts.
And peep Greece's new laws, man. They givin' the government power to shut down NGOs without even goin' to court. Plus, they handin' out 10-year sentences and 50,000-euro fines for anyone caught helpin' migrants get in or out the country. That's straight wildin'.
The UN even weighed in, wit' Mary Lawlor callin' the prosecution part of a bigger scheme to shut down migrant support. So Norway steppin' up is a big deal. It shows that some folks out here still got a conscience. But let's keep it 100, this fight ain't over. We gotta keep callin' out these governments that are treatin' migrants like they ain't human. We gotta keep lookin' out for each other, cause ain't nobody else gonna do it for us.
