Neuty the Nutria: Real One Passes Away, But His Legacy Lives On
That nutria that fought the system? Yeah, he gone, but he showed everybody how to stand up for what's yours, no cap.

METAIRIE, La. — Aight, listen up. Neuty the nutria, that lil' dude from Louisiana who went viral 'cause his family went to war with the state just to keep him, he passed away. Cancer got him. But let me tell you somethin', that nutria was more than just a pet, he was a symbol.
Denny and Myra Lacoste found Neuty on Christmas Eve 2020, a whole baby out there by hisself. They took him in, raised him like family. Next thing you know, this dude's living better than half the folks out here, chillin' on rugs, eatin' good. But then the state, them same folks who don't do nothin' for us, decided they wanted to snatch him up. Said somethin' about him being an invasive species. As if they ain't the real invasive species, takin' everything we got.
But the people weren't havin' it. A whole petition popped up, 17,000 signatures strong. Showed them folks in power that you can't just come into somebody's life and take what they love. Neuty even got on Fox News with Tucker Carlson, back when that dude still had a platform. That's how you know this was a real movement.
See, Neuty's story ain't just about a nutria. It's about standin' up to the system, fightin' for what's yours, even when the odds are stacked against you. It's about community and family, about takin' care of each other when nobody else will.
Now, some folks might say, “It's just an animal.” But Neuty was more than that to the Lacostes, and to a lot of people who saw themselves in his story. He was a reminder that even the smallest among us can make a difference, that even when the government tries to bully you, you can fight back and win. So RIP to Neuty. He showed them folks how we do it down here, and for that, he'll always be a G. Keep it 100.
