Miliband Say Europe Need Space From the U.S. – But Still Want the Bag?
Ex-Foreign Sec talkin' 'bout 'separate bedrooms,' but sound like he tryna finesse Uncle Sam for that green.

HAY-ON-WYE, WALES – Word on the street is David Miliband, the former Foreign Secretary, been runnin' his mouth at the Hay literary festival, talkin' 'bout Europe needin' “separate bedrooms” from the U.S. But let's keep it a buck, sound like he tryna finesse the system and get that paper without the commitment. Real talk, ain't nothin' free in this world.
This dude Miliband, now headin' the International Rescue Committee, out here sayin' Europe need “strategic autonomy.” What that really mean? They wanna do they own thing, but still want Uncle Sam to foot the bill? Nah, fam, that ain't how it work. Gotta put in work to get results. If you wanna eat, you gotta cook.
He talkin' 'bout “separate bank accounts” too. That's code for, “We wanna spend money how we want, without y'all lookin' over our shoulder.” But who payin' for it? 'Cause if it's still the American taxpayer, then we need to have a say in where that bread goin'.
He talkin' 'bout needin' “agency” on the economy and military. Man, Europe been ridin' the U.S.'s coattails for too long. Time to step up and handle business. Can't be dependin' on someone else to protect you forever. Gotta be self-sufficient, build ya own empire.
He mentioned climate change, sayin' Europe gotta lead even if America ain't with it. Look, climate change real, but don't be preachin' to us while y'all pollutin' too. Everyone gotta do they part, not just point fingers.
Philippe Sands, another dude on the panel, said the UK-US relationship is “one-way.” Facts. We been givin' y'all the sauce for decades. But now it's time for everyone to pull they own weight.
Misha Glenny chimed in, sayin' Brexit was “catastrophic.” Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. But the point is, every nation gotta look out for itself first. Can't be lettin' other people run ya life.
Miliband callin' for a “national consensus” on rejoinin' the EU. That sound like more drama. Why go back to somethin' that didn't work in the first place? Sometimes you gotta cut ya losses and move on.
At the end of the day, this whole situation is about power and money. Europe want more power, but they don't wanna pay for it. They want the American dollar, but they don't wanna follow American rules. Gotta keep it a hunnid, that ain't a partnership, that's a leech.
