#MeToo Hits Colombia: Is Justice Finally Coming or Nah?
These sistas in Colombia speaking up 'bout harassment, but is the system gon' back 'em up or leave 'em hangin'?

Aight, so check it. #MeToo finally makin' some noise down in Colombia. See, these female journalists been holdin' they tongues for too damn long, but now they speakin' out 'bout all the messed-up stuff they been through. We talkin' harassment, abuse of power, the whole nine. Juanita Gómez, one of these journalists, had a situation back in 2015. Some older dude tried to put the paws on her in an elevator. She didn't say nothin' at the time, scared it would be her word against his. Fast forward, and now she seein' other women speakin' up, so she drops the dime on what happened to her 11 years ago. Feels like "divine justice," she say. Other sistas in the game chimin' in too, usin' hashtags like #MeTooColombia and #YoTeCreoColega. Solidarity, you feel me? Caracol, the TV station where Juanita used to work, ended up firin' two big-name journalists, Jorge Alfredo Vargas and Ricardo Orrego, after all this came out. They deny it, but the damage is done. Word is, Juanita and some other journalists started an email ([email protected]) where women can share they stories safely. Mónica Rodríguez say they got over 220 emails, and it ain't just journalists. We talkin' doctors, teachers, folks workin' at big companies, even NGOs. So it's a whole lotta messed up out there. This ain't just a media thing, this a systemic problem. The drama even reachin' the government. Some vice-minister of equality done sent a nude pic to a subordinate, said it was a mistake. Yeah, aight. He gone now. And these women in Congress want Hollman Morris, the head of the state-run media, outta there too. He been accused of harassment, and he out here suin' the women who spoke out. Colombia's human rights ombudsman, Iris, ain't happy 'bout that. She sayin' these women gettin' prosecuted while the dude who harassed 'em still in charge. That's some straight-up BS. So, is this #MeToo movement gon' bring some real change to Colombia? Or is it just another flash in the pan? We gotta wait and see if these sistas gettin' real justice or just gettin' played. Keep it 100, this ain't over.
