Met Gala 'Fashion is Art'? More Like Fashion for the Rich
Another year, another Met Gala where rich folks flex while the rest of us struggle, know what I'm sayin'?

Yo, check it. The Met Gala comin' back in '26 with a 'Fashion is Art' theme. Sounds bougie, right? All these celebs gon' be wearin' outfits that cost more than my crib, pretendin' they ain't out of touch with reality. This whole thing is supposed to be for the Costume Institute at the Met, but who really benefits? It ain't the people in the hood, that's for sure.
The 'Costume Art' exhibit is supposed to have all kinds of stuff, even stuff for pregnant women, they say. But how many sistas from the block gon' actually see it? The Gala's invite-only, so it's just a bunch of rich folks patting themselves on the back for bein' so cultured. Last year they raised $31 million. Where that money goin'? Hopefully, it ain't just lining their pockets.
Vogue's gonna be livestreaming the whole thing on YouTube and TikTok. You can watch Ashley Graham, La La Anthony, and Cara Delevingne act like they know what's up. Don't even get me started on Emma Chamberlain. These folks get paid to be pretty and pretend they care. Meanwhile, Bezos and his wife are honorary chairs. That's a problem, man. That's why some folks are callin' for a boycott. Can't blame 'em.
Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour are runnin' the show. Plus, Zoë Kravitz, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Misty Copeland, Teyana Taylor, Gwendoline Christie, Sam Smith, and Angela Bassett are all gonna be there. It's a whole lot of celebrity worship, but it ain't doin' nothin' for the community.
Real talk, the Met Gala is just another reminder of how the rich get richer while the rest of us struggle. They can call it 'Fashion is Art' all they want, but it's really just fashion for the privileged. Keep it 100, though. We out here grindin', no matter what.
