May Day, Real Talk: Is This 'Strong' Sh*t Gon' Actually Change Anything?
They talkin' 'bout shutting down the system on May 1st, but will it really hit them pockets where it hurts, or just inconvenience folks tryin' to make a livin'?

Aight, so peep game: May Day Strong is comin' up, right? All these orgs talkin' 'bout hittin' the streets, not shoppin', not goin' to school, tryin' to flex some muscle on the man. But let's keep it 100, is this gon' be another one of them performative protests that look good on IG but don't really move the needle?
They sayin' it's 'bout workers over billionaires,' taxin' the rich, gettin' ICE outta here, money for people not wars. Sounds good on paper, but how we gon' actually make that happen? Folks gotta eat, gotta pay rent, gotta survive in this rigged-ass system. Shutting down for a day ain't gonna magically erase student debt or fix the housing crisis. Ain't no cap in my rap.
Neidi Dominguez from Organized Power in Numbers sayin' the labor movement gotta link up with the pro-democracy movement. She ain't wrong, but unity ain't just 'bout showin' up for a march. It's 'bout buildin' real power in our communities, holdin' politicians accountable, and creatin' our own damn opportunities.
3,500 actions across the country? That's a lot of folks. But are they organized? Are they focused? Or are they just ventin' frustration with no real plan? We need more than just slogans; we need strategy. We need to hit 'em where it hurts, and that ain't just 'bout disruptin' traffic.
The Chicago Teachers Union gettin' May 1st declared a 'day of civic action'? That's a start. But let's not forget the teachers and all the other essential workers that work hard everyday to keep these kids safe, educated and fed. We need real, lasting change, not just symbolic gestures.
They want a 'nationwide day of economic disruption.' Aight, bet. But what happens the day after? We can't just shut down and then go back to business as usual. We gotta keep the pressure on, keep organizin', keep fightin' for what's ours. For our people and for our future.
Some professor from Rutgers sayin' this ain't a general strike, and a real one takes years to organize. Word. Ain't nothin' wrong with steppin' stones, but don't front like this is the revolution. This is just one battle in a long-ass war, and we gotta be ready to stay in the fight.
May Day Strong got a website with a map to find events. Cool. Go check it out, see what's happenin' in your area. But don't just show up and take selfies. Show up ready to work, ready to learn, and ready to build something real.
