Louisiana Judge Lookin' Out For His Church, Screwin' Over The People
This ain't nothin' new, but this judge gotta recuse himself after tryin' to help the Catholic Church dodge abuse claims.

LAKE CHARLES, La. – Straight up, this is some BS. Judge Kendrick Guidry in Louisiana just showed his true colors. He had to recuse himself from a case 'cause he was straight up tryna help the Catholic Church out, the same church he sittin' on the finance committee for. This ain't 'bout justice, this 'bout lookin' out for your own. They always protectin' each other, keepin' the lil man down. This is why folks don't trust the system, know what I'm sayin'?
So, peep the situation: Louisiana got this 'lookback window' law, right? It lets folks who were abused as kids sue even if it happened years ago. It's a lifeline for survivors who been holdin' onto pain for decades. The Louisiana Supreme Court previously upheld the constitutionality of the lookback window. Judge Guidry was the only judge to rule that the state supreme court’s decision to uphold the law did not set a binding precedent. That’s suspect right there.
But the Catholic Church, bein' who they are, don't want none of that. Too much money at stake. So Judge Guidry, who's supposed to be impartial, was out here tryna block the law for 'em. Ain't that some mess?
He tried to play it cool, sayin' he was just a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary. But then it came out he's been on the finance committee since February. The FINANCE COMMITTEE! That's where the money decisions get made, the same money that would be on the line in these abuse cases. Come on, man.
This Loyola professor, Diane Ciolino, said it's clear as day: if you got ties to a party in a case, you gotta recuse yourself. It’s not about what the judge thinks, it's what a regular person would think. An unbiased observer. She said it's not what the judge thinks, but what an objective, reasonable observer would believe. And we all know what a reasonable person would think: somethin' ain't right.
And Kathryn Robb from Enough Abuse hit the nail on the head. She said Guidry was makin' it seem like he barely knew the church when, in reality, he was basically its twin. They hand in hand, see?
All this came to light during a hearin' about some abuse that happened back in the 80s. Guidry claimed he could be fair, but c'mon, nobody believin' that. The church was claimin' that allowin' the lawsuit would be an unconstitutional 'taking' of their property. Like they more worried 'bout their money than the lives they done messed up.
