LIRR Shutdown: Them Workers On Strike, Everyday Peeps Payin' the Price
330,000 Folks Stranded 'Cause the MTA Ain't Tryna Pay a Living Wage. This How They Do Us.

Aight, so check it. The LIRR workers done walked off the job, strikin' and all that. That mean 330,000 commuters, folks just tryna get to work and back, are straight outta luck. They stuck, stressin', and probly late, 'cause these greedy corporations ain't tryna pay a livin' wage. Real talk, this is how the system be workin' against us.
Five unions, representin' the folks keepin' the trains runnin' – ticket clerks, engineers, electricians, the whole crew – they said, 'Enough is enough.' They been negotiatin' with the MTA, but them folks ain't budgin'. The workers want a 5% raise in the fourth year, just to keep up with inflation and all the BS, but the MTA claimin' they can't afford it. Cap. Straight up.
We all know the MTA got money. They spendin' bread on these fancy projects, payin' they CEOs fat stacks, but when it come to takin' care of the folks doin' the real work, suddenly they broke? Nah, son. That ain't how it goes. They disrespectin' the people who make that railroad move.
Kevin Sexton from the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen said they ain't got no new negotiations scheduled. That's cold. They leavin' folks hangin' in the balance. He said they sorry, but sorry don't pay the bills, ya heard?
MTA Chairman Janno Lieber tryin' to spin the story, sayin' they gave the union everything they wanted. That's a lie, straight up. They playin' games, tryin' to make the workers look bad. Don't fall for the okie doke.
Gov. Kathy Hochul callin' the strike "reckless" and "unacceptable." Of course she is. She ain't gotta ride the train every day. She ain't gotta struggle to make ends meet. She livin' high on the hog while the rest of us scrapin' by. These politicians always on the side of the corporations, never on the side of the people.
The MTA puttin' out some limited shuttle bus service, but that ain't gonna cut it. The highways finna be even more jammed than usual, and folks gonna be late for work, losin' money, and gettin' stressed out. It's a domino effect, and it all starts with these corporations not payin' a fair wage.
This ain't just about the LIRR workers. It's about all of us. We gotta stand in solidarity with these workers and demand that they get what they deserve. It's time to fight back against these greedy corporations and politicians who keep tryin' to hold us down. We gotta wake up and realize that we all we got. If we don't stand up for ourselves, nobody else will. So, salute to the LIRR workers for standin' up. They speakin' truth to power and hopefully this'll change something for real. But until then, keep ya head up and watch ya back. This system ain't built for us to win.
This strike showin' how broke the system is. They always tryin' to play us against each other, but we gotta stick together and get what's rightfully ours. We deserve fair wages, safe workin' conditions, and a chance to build a better life. Ain't no cap in my rap.
