Keepin' It 100: New Poll Shows Even the MAGA Crew Ain't Tryna Leave NATO Allies Hanging
The media's been talking slick about Trump supporters wanting to ditch our partners, but the numbers show they're ready to ride out if the block gets hot.

Look, the corporate media's been running their mouths for years saying that the MAGA crowd wants to completely ghost our allies and leave NATO in the dust. But a brand new poll just dropped, and it's keeping it 100: turns out, regular folks—even the ones rocking the red hats—ain't about to leave their partners hanging when things get real.
The Reagan Institute Summer Survey did the math, and 73% of Americans said staying in NATO is majorly important for U.S. security and money. And get this: 64% of Republicans and 61% of MAGA Republicans agreed with that. So all that talk about conservatives wanting to completely rip up the contracts? That's cap.
It gets even deeper when you look at the rules of the block. When the pollsters told people about Article 5—which basically means if one ally gets jumped, everybody has to jump in—the support was massive. We're talking 76% of Democrats, 71% of Republicans, and 69% of the MAGA crew saying they would support the U.S. riding out with military force to defend an ally under attack. That’s real loyalty, showing that when the chips are down, nobody's trying to play coward.
All of this went down right as President Trump was hosting the new NATO boss, Mark Rutte, at the White House on Wednesday. Trump, being Trump, was pocket-watching the allies, calling out several European countries for not having our backs during the recent U.S. operation against Iran. He basically told them they can't expect us to defend their block if they won't help us hold down ours.
But instead of getting mad, Rutte pulled up to the White House and gave Trump his flowers. Rutte credited Trump's heavy pressure with getting the European allies to finally stop freeloading and start putting real money into their own defense budgets. He even praised Trump's moves on Iran, saying, "I really want to make clear how important it is what you are doing on Iran. This is first of all about the nuclear capability Iran was very near to getting its hands on."
The pollsters ran this survey from May 26 to June 3, 2026, hitting up 1,555 people across the country. They called people on the phone, hit them up online, and sent texts to make sure they got a real mix of the population. They weighted the results using the 2023 Census Bureau numbers to make sure it matched the real demographics of the streets—including age, race, and education.
They even did a special check-in with 331 young MAGA supporters under 30 to see what the next generation is thinking, and that group had a 5% margin of error. The message from the youth is clear: they still believe in standing strong.
The Reagan Institute is all about that old-school "peace through strength" vibe, and this poll proves that even if Trump is playing tough cop to make the allies pay their share of the rent, the base still knows that having real backup is the only way to keep the block safe.
