Keepin' It 100: Gallup Poll Shows Patriotism At An All-Time Low and the Politicians Are Trippin'
Only 17% of Americans are feeling proud of this country, and Rep. Harriet Hageman is blaming the left's cultural moves for the decline.

Let’s keep it real: the vibes in the country are at an all-time low. A new Gallup poll just dropped, and the numbers are wild. Only 17 percent of American adults—that’s less than one out of every five people—say they are "very proud" to be an American. That’s a record low. Representative Harriet Hageman from Wyoming saw these numbers and took straight to the House floor to call out what’s really going on, pointing fingers at the politicians who are changing the narrative.
Hageman said the energy is being sucked right out of the room because of a "novel self-flagellation" and people constantly calling the nation’s morality into question. She’s dropping a major speech soon, arguing that America has a real culture we need to protect, especially with the 250th Independence Day coming right up. She wants people to stop acting like America is just some abstract concept, saying, "We must stop pretending that America is just an idea, or that we have no shared culture worth fighting for."
The poll shows a massive split in how people are feeling depending on what political side they claim. Only 36 percent of Democrats say they are "very proud" of the country, which is a crazy drop from the 62 percent they had just last year. On top of that, only 27 percent of Democrats are even planning to fly the American flag on the 4th of July. Meanwhile, Republicans are holding strong at 92 percent. Independents are caught in the middle, sitting at 53 percent after dropping seven points from last year.
When it comes to the cultural mix, Hageman made it clear that while America has always opened its doors to people from all over the world, that doesn't mean we have to erase our own history to make others comfortable. "By inviting those who seek to make our country home, however, we are not obligated to subjugate our American history, culture and traditions for theirs," she wrote. She said newcomers need to come in and get down with the American way of life instead of trying to swap it out.
Hageman really went off on how the Democrats are running their history playbook. She accused the left of using the worst parts of America’s past, specifically slavery, to make it seem like the country can never be fixed. "My friends on the other side of the aisle have worked mightily to weaponize our history with slavery to indict our nation as irredeemable," she said.
She pointed directly at the 1619 Project, which focuses on the year the first enslaved Africans were brought over. Hageman says the left is treating 1619 like it's the actual birthday of the country, and she’s not having it. She called them "cultural revolutionaries hellbent to tear our society apart."
But Hageman thinks we can still turn this around if we change the focus. She's hoping that when the 250th anniversary hits, people will look back at the real history with honesty and accuracy to get that pride back. We'll see if the people on the street actually buy into it, or if the pride numbers are going to keep sliding.
