Haaland vs. Mbappé: Big-Time Ballers Collide as Uruguay and Belgium Fight to Stay Alive
Norway and France are ready to go to war for the top spot, while underdogs like Cape Verde show the world how to grind.

The 2026 World Cup group stage is almost in the books, and Friday, June 26, 2026, is about to be an absolute movie. We have the heavyweights stepping onto the pitch to settle the score, and some of the biggest names in the game are ready to show out. The main event is a certified banger in Group I: Erling Haaland and Norway going head-to-head with Kylian Mbappé and France at 3:00 PM ET inside Boston Stadium. If you trying to lock in, the game is running on FOX and Telemundo (you can stream it on Fubo), TSN in Canada, ITV1 in the UK, and SBS down in Australia.
Norway has been playing out of their minds, proving they are not to be played with. They already put Iraq and Senegal in a blender, scoring seven goals in their first two matches. Haaland and Martin Ødegaard are in their bag early, slicing through defenses like they aren't even there. But France is no walkover. Mbappé has already put four in the back of the net, and with Michael Olise running the point as the creative number ten, France has arguably the scariest attack in the whole tournament.
At the exact same time (3:00 PM ET), Senegal is fighting for survival against Iraq over at Toronto Stadium. You can catch that one on FS1, Telemundo, TSN, ITV4, or SBS. Senegal had a rough start, dropping back-to-back games to the European giants, but they still have a slim chance to advance if they go crazy and run up the score. Iraq’s defense has been looking straight-up lost under coach Graham Arnold, and Senegal’s Crystal Palace winger Ismaïla Sarr is looking to eat on that right wing.
At 8:00 PM ET, the hustle story of the tournament takes center stage at Houston Stadium. Cape Verde, the ultimate underdogs, are taking on Saudi Arabia. The Blue Sharks have been grinding with their backs against the wall against giants like Uruguay and Spain, and now they have a real shot to make it out of Group H. No one gave them a chance, but they showed they got that dog in them and can shut down anyone when they stay disciplined.
On the flip side, some of the legacy teams are looking totally mid. Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay squad has been a major disappointment, putting up two weak performances. They have a massive point to prove, and if they don't get a result against European champions Spain, they are packing their bags. Belgium is in the same boat, looking completely washed on a four-game World Cup winless streak. It just goes to show, name recognition don't mean nothing when you get on the pitch.
