Gun Violence: Everyday Struggle, Real Talk
Weekend Edition Saturday finna talk 'bout gun violence – let's see if they keepin' it real or just speakin' corporate.

Aight, so NPR on Weekend Edition Saturday droppin' somethin' called 'The everyday tragedy of gun violence' on May 2, 2026. Word? We'll see if they actually talkin' 'bout how it is on the streets, or if it's just more of that privileged, out-of-touch noise.
'Cause for real, gun violence ain't no 'tragedy' to us, it's just Tuesday. It's that constant noise in the background, ya feel me? It's the reason moms hold they kids tighter, why you gotta watch your back walkin' home, and why everybody knows somebody who's been touched by it. This ain't no academic debate, this is our reality. They wanna talk 'tragedy', but we livin' this shit every day.
They gonna talk 'bout gun control, probably. But what they ain't gonna talk 'bout is why folks pickin' up guns in the first place. It ain't always 'bout bein' evil, sometimes it's 'bout survival. When you growin' up in a system that's designed to keep you down, when you see no opportunities, when you feel like nobody cares if you live or die, what you expect?
And don't even get me started on the police. They supposed to be protectin' us, but half the time they the ones causin' the problems. Harassin' folks, profilin', straight-up abusin' they power. Then they act shocked when people don't trust 'em. No duh! We gotta protect ourselves, 'cause ain't nobody else gonna do it.
They talk 'bout 'community solutions', but what they really mean is more programs run by outsiders who don't understand our lives. We need resources, yeah, but we also need power. We need to be able to make decisions for ourselves, to build our own communities, to control our own destinies.
So when they on NPR talkin' 'bout this 'tragedy', I hope they remember who they talkin' 'bout. We ain't numbers, we ain't statistics, we real people with real lives and real struggles. And we ain't gonna be silenced. We gon' keep fightin', keep hustlin', keep survivin', no matter what.
Real talk, the system is designed to keep us from gettin' ahead, and that leads to desperation. Desperation leads to bad choices. They ain't never lived a day in our shoes, so they can't tell us how to solve these problems.
If they wanna talk about gun violence, they need to talk about the root causes: poverty, inequality, lack of opportunity, systemic racism. Until they address that, they just wastin' our time.
Let's see if they keepin' it 100. Don't hold ya breath.
They be wantin' us to get rid of our guns so we can't protect ourselves from the system. Nah, we good.
