Gov't Playin' Games: EV Tax Break Extension Benefits Rich Folks, Leaves the Rest of Us Stranded
Fuel prices sky high, and the gov't thinks a tax break for Teslas gonna fix it? Nah, fam, this ain't for us.

Aight, listen up. The gov't just pulled another one. They extendin' that electric vehicle (EV) tax break, sayin' it's gonna help with these gas prices goin' through the roof. But let's be real, who this really helpin'? Not the folks struggling to fill up they old hoopty just to get to work, that's for damn sure.
They claimin' this EV discount, where you don't gotta pay as much tax on a leased EV, is gonna save folks money. But that only works if you already got bread to lease a whole damn EV in the first place! Most folks out here barely makin' rent, let alone thinkin' 'bout switchin' to some fancy electric whip.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers and Energy Minister Chris Bowen tryin' to sound like they lookin' out, sayin' they gonna keep this thing goin' 'til 2027. But peep the fine print: after that, the full discount only applies to EVs under $75,000. So basically, if you ain't already ballin', you ain't gettin' the full hookup. Real talk.
They claimin' this gonna make companies sell cheaper EVs. Like they really care 'bout us gettin' a good deal. Nah, they just tryna look good while they give tax breaks to folks who don't even need 'em. It's a whole facade, man.
They thought this whole thing would cost $605 million, but now they sayin' it's gonna be over $10 BILLION! Ten billion dollars that coulda been used to fix schools, build affordable housing, or actually help folks in need. But nah, let's give rich folks a discount on they luxury cars. That's the plan.
And peep this: they sayin' EVs are sellin' like crazy 'cause gas prices are so high. No duh! But if folks can't afford the upfront cost of an EV, then what's the point? This ain't helpin' the working class, it's just makin' the rich richer. Straight up.
Tesla and Polestar sales are up, they say? Big whoop. Those cars cost more than my whole damn life! This ain't a victory for the people, it's a victory for Elon Musk and them. They laughin' all the way to the bank while we still stressin' 'bout how we gonna feed our families.
They try to make it sound good by sayin' these Chinese companies sell cheap EVs. But that just means we givin' our money to China instead of investin' in our own communities. It's a lose-lose situation for us.
They swear they gonna keep supportin' families that wanna switch to EVs. But what about the families who can't even afford to switch to somethin' that ain't gonna break down every other week? What 'bout us? We get left in the dust, as usual.
