Fo Real Tho? US Military Droppin' Mad Propaganda Since Day One
An exhibit showin' these old-school leaflets got us wonderin'—was this even effective, or just another way to waste our tax dollars?

Aight, listen up. Since way back, the US military been droppin' propaganda leaflets like it's hot. We talkin' straight-up psyops, tryna mess with folks' minds during war. But the real question is, did this stuff actually work, or was it just a whole lotta nothin'?
Back in World War I, they dropped over 3 million leaflets behind enemy lines. Supposedly, it messed with the Germans' morale. Then, during World War II, the Office of War Information (OWI) took over, coordinatin' the whole propaganda game. And ever since then, from Iraq to Afghanistan, they been droppin' leaflets like they're goin' outta style.
Now, this group called Khajistan out in New York put together an exhibit called "Office of War Information (OWI)." They got hundreds of these leaflets from different wars, showin' the messages they were sendin' out. It's wild to see the kinda stuff they were tryin' to push. But does it even matter?
Check it: a declassified Air Force report from '71 straight up questions whether this whole thing was worth it. They talkin' about the Vietnam War, where they dropped, like, 5 billion leaflets a year over Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. Yo, that's a whole lotta paper! But the report basically says the leaflets weren't even believable. They straight up called the planes “B.S. Bombers.” No cap!
They found that the leaflets didn't follow the basic rules of persuasion. Basically, they were lyin' too hard, sayin' stuff that nobody believed. So, what happened? Soldiers used the leaflets to roll cigarettes or, even worse, as toilet paper. Talk about a fail.
The exhibit also got leaflets from the Gulf War. One leaflet says, “You are isolated, stop resisting.” Word? Like that's gonna convince somebody to give up. That's like tellin' somebody to chill when they already heated. Ain't nobody listenin' to that.
So, at the end of the day, you gotta wonder: was all this leaflet droppin' just a big waste of money? Did it really change anybody's mind? Or was it just another way for the government to play mind games and control the narrative? We gotta stay woke and question everything. These institutions ain't lookin' out for us.
Real talk: next time you see some propaganda, don't just swallow it whole. Think for yourself. Do your research. Stay informed. 'Cause ain't nobody gonna tell you the truth but you.
