Fair Work Commission Messin' With The Bag: Young Hustlers Get a Bump, But At What Cost?
That bread gonna be a lil' thicker for the youngins, but don't get it twisted – the system still tryna finesse us.

Aight, listen up. The Fair Work Commission just dropped some news that's supposed to be good for the young hustlers out here workin' them retail, fast food, and pharmacy gigs. They axed them junior pay rates for folks 18 and older. On paper, that means more paper in the pockets of about half a million young workers. Word?
But hold up, don't be celebratin' like you just hit the lotto. This ain't no get-rich-quick scheme. This is the system doin' what it always do: givin' with one hand and takin' with the other. They sayin' it's gon' be phased in over four years? Come on, man, that's a slow burn. My lil' cousin need that bread now, not four years from now.
That union, the SDA, they clappin' they hands like they did somethin' real special, sayin' it's like equal pay for women back in the day. Nah, fam, don't insult my intelligence. This ain't nothin' but a band-aid on a bullet wound. We still gotta deal with crazy rent, jacked-up prices on everything, and bosses tryna squeeze every last drop of labor out of us.
That Treasurer dude, Jim Chalmers, he callin' it a “great outcome.” Politicians always sayin' somethin' to make themselves look good. But is it really a great outcome when these young workers gotta be with the same company for six months just to get the full adult rate? Sounds like they still playin' games to me.
And let's be real, the man was speaking facts. Some of these businesses gon' be lookin' for ways to cut corners. They might not hire as many young folks, or they might start lookin' for older heads who they think are worth the extra money. Either way, somebody's gettin' the short end of the stick.
The SDA talkin' 'bout the “substantive unfairness” of payin' young workers less for doin' the same job. I feel that. We out here grindin' just like everybody else, payin' the same bills, dealin' with the same stress. Why we gotta get taxed just 'cause we young?
They keepin' them junior rates for the under-18s, though. So, the young-youngins still gettin' played. Gotta watch out for them employers tryna exploit the kids. This whole situation shady, fam. You gotta stay woke.
Real talk, this ain't gonna solve all our problems. We still need affordable housing, better schools, and a system that ain't designed to keep us down. This little wage increase is cool, but it's just a drop in the bucket.
