Clout Chasing in Congress: Nancy Mace is Out Here Fighting "Transgender Mice" While the Hood Struggles
A lame-duck politician gets clowned on social media after confusing cancer-research mice with transgender rodents in a desperate bid for Twitter views.

You really can't make this stuff up. While regular folks are out here struggling to buy groceries, pay rent, and keep the lights on, the politicians in Washington are spending their time debating the gender identity of mice. Outgoing Congresswoman Nancy Mace from South Carolina just introduced something called the "TRANS MICE Act." She says she wants to stop the government from spending our hard-earned tax dollars on "radical transgender-related experiments on animals."
Let’s keep it a hundred: Nancy Mace is on her way out the door. She tried to run for governor in her state's Republican primary and came in dead last. Now that she's leaving politics next year, she’s looking for any way to stay relevant and get some quick internet clout. She used to call herself "Trump in high heels," so she’s trying to go out with the same loud, controversial energy that Donald Trump brings to the stage.
But here’s where the story gets hilarious. As soon as Mace posted about her new bill on X, the internet absolutely clowned her. The Community Notes stepped in real quick and hit her with some actual facts. They pointed out that she made a massive "mousetake." The term "trans mice" doesn't mean transgender rodents; it means transgenic mice. These are genetically engineered mice that scientists use for cancer research to try and find cures for actual sick people.
Instead of just saying "my bad" and moving on, Mace did what these politicians always do: she doubled down. She hopped back on social media, claimed she didn't mix up the terms, and told everybody to go read her bill. It’s the classic move where you get caught trippin' but you're too proud to admit you made a mistake, so you just tell everyone else they are the ones who don't understand.
This whole situation is just like that wild speech Donald Trump gave back in 2024. He was telling his crowd that schools were performing gender-reassignment surgeries on kids during the school day. He said, "Can you imagine you're a parent... and your son comes back with a brutal operation? What the hell is wrong with our country?" It was a completely unverified claim, but it got his base all hyped up. Now Mace is trying to run that same playbook by making people think scientists are out here running trans clinics for mice.
The actual scientific community had to step in and try to clean up the mess. A group called Americans for Medical Progress, which supports biomedical research, had to put out an official statement to stop the fake news. They explained that these federal grants aren't about making trans mice. They are studying sex hormones to understand why some diseases hit men and women differently. But because politicians want to trigger their base, they spin it like scientists are doing woke experiments on lab rats.
