Checked Real Quick: Spanish Tourist Arrested at São Paulo Airport After Popping Off to Bag Handlers
Brazil feds ain't playing no games, putting handcuffs on a tourist who thought she could talk down to the working crew.

Look, if you're traveling out here, you gotta respect the grind and respect the local people. A Spanish tourist found that out the hard way at Guarulhos airport in São Paulo when she got bagged by the Brazilian federal police. She thought she could disrespect the baggage handlers, but the crew checked her real quick.
The whole mess went down on a Latam flight coming from São Luis. As soon as the plane landed, this lady started hurling racist insults at the workers who were just doing their jobs unloading the bags. The flight crew wasn't having it. They called the feds on her, and police were waiting at the door to lock her up the minute she stepped off the plane.
Latam Airlines didn't hesitate to back up their workers either. They put out a statement saying there is absolutely no excuse for anyone to be attacking their staff, and they don't tolerate any form of racism or discrimination. Straight up.
People need to realize that Brazil has some of the toughest anti-racism laws in Latin America. If you come over here throwing racial slurs around, you're not just getting a slap on the wrist. You’re looking at two to five years behind bars and a fat fine.
This is just the latest tourist thinking they can come to Brazil and act wild. Back in January, this Argentinian girl named Agostina Páez got caught on camera making monkey signs at a nightclub waiter in Rio. The video went viral, and she got stuck in Brazil because the law wouldn't let her leave.
She finally got back to Argentina in April and immediately went to take pictures with Patricia Bullrich, a big-time senator over there. They were celebrating like she did something great, but the jokes are on them because the Brazilian courts are still coming for her and the case is still open.
Then you got another guy from Argentina, Eduardo Ignacio Murias, who got locked up in Minas Gerais back in May. This man was out here taking unauthorized pictures of a kid and posting them with racist captions. They indicted him on June 17, and he's currently sitting in a cell waiting for his trial.
And you can't forget the Chilean passenger who lost his mind on a flight to Frankfurt. This dude tried to open the plane door while they were up in the air. When the crew stepped in to stop him from getting everyone killed, he started screaming racial and homophobic slurs at them. He got arrested the second they hit the ground.
The lesson is simple: keep your hands and your mouth to yourself. Don't go to someone else's country acting like you own the place, because the Brazilian feds will put you in a cell real fast.
