Celina, Texas Boomin' But Is It Boomin' For Us?
This town growin' fast, but gotta ask if the opportunities gon' trickle down to the hood.

CELINA, Texas – Aight, so they sayin' Celina, Texas is the fastest-growin' city in the country, right? 24.6% jump in population between 2024 and 2025. That's a whole lotta new folks movin' in. But the real question is, what dat mean for the people already here, especially the ones in the community tryna make ends meet?
They sayin' folks comin' for cheaper housing and better schools, tryna escape them high-tax states. But cheap ain't always cheap when they start gentrifyin' the whole damn place. Prices go up, folks get pushed out. We seen it before.
Mayor Ryan Tubbs talkin' 'bout expandin' roads and water lines and all dat. "If you drive around Celina, you can definitely tell that we're the fastest growing city," he told Fox News Digital. "We have a lot of road construction going on, a lot of new sewer and water lines, just all different infrastructure projects getting ready to service our residents of the future.” But is he talkin' 'bout OUR future? Or just the future for the new folks movin' in with they pockets fat?
They buildin' all these new neighborhoods, but where the jobs at? Are they bringin' in corporations that pay livable wages, or just more low-wage gigs that ain't gon' cut it? Gotta make sure folks can actually afford to live in the place they helpin' build up.
And what 'bout the schools? They sayin' the schools good, but are they really? Are they gettin' the resources they need to serve all the kids, especially the ones from disadvantaged backgrounds? Or are they just caterin' to the new folks with they fancy degrees?
They talkin' 'bout preservin' the small-town feel, but that usually means preservin' the status quo. Gotta make sure that small-town feel ain't just code for keepin' certain folks out.
This growth could be a good thing, bringin' more opportunities and resources. But it could also be a bad thing, pushin' folks out and makin' life harder for the ones who already struggle. It all depends on how they manage it. Gotta hold these politicians accountable and make sure they lookin' out for the whole community, not just the ones with the money.
Real talk, we gotta stay woke and make sure we gettin' our piece of the pie. This ain't no time to be sleepin' on the come up. We gotta organize, mobilize, and demand what we deserve. This is OUR city too, and we ain't gon' let nobody push us out.
Celina might be boomin', but if it ain't boomin' for everybody, then it ain't boomin' for real. Keep it 100.
We gotta start asking the hard questions: who's really benefitin' from this growth? Is it creating real opportunities for folks in the community, or is it just lining the pockets of developers and politicians? Are they building affordable housing, or just luxury condos that nobody can afford? It's time to demand answers and hold these folks accountable.
