BCU Trippin': Black Studies Program Getting Shut Down, Fo Real?
University sayin' low enrollment, but we know the deal: they ain't tryna invest in Black futures.
Aight, so check it: Birmingham City University pullin' some shady sh*t. They 'bout to axe the Black studies MA program, right after they canned the undergrad joint back in '24. Word on the street is, they claimin' it's 'cause nobody signin' up, but that's cap.
More than a hundred heads—professors, writers, activists—done signed a letter tellin' BCU they dead wrong. They sayin' this ain't just about one program, it's about erasn Black folks from higher education altogether. Like, they straight up tryna silence us.
Professor Kehinde Andrews, the OG behind the Black studies movement at BCU, might be losin' his job too. He sayin' the university ain't give the MA program a chance to even get off the ground before they decided to shut it down. Plus, they ain't even do no impact assessment to see how this gon' affect Black students and staff. That's some straight up disrespect.
